Is it any accident that the word THANKSGIVING and the day THURSDAY both begin with the same two letters...!!!

Now, as a Catholic, I celebrate EUCHARIST, a greek word meaning thanksgiving, every Sunday...!!!

But somehow the concept of giving thanks was first and foremost on my mind today...and SO...

I would like to express some thoughts and reflections on that topic in this post!!!

Now, if you're an Active Rain guru in charge of bestowing one of those feature stars, don't give up on this post so quickly...

There are so many things to be thankful for, where does one begin! I'll start with my faith...itself a gift...My faith in God and my faith in family, not only mine, but all families...there is so much stress on families these days it's amazing they still exist...We have our struggles, but we hang in there with one another, loving one another, bearing with one another, sacrificing for one another...!!!

I'm thankful for everything around me, not so much possessions or material things, but people, friends, relatives, customers, consumers, employees, my blog subscribers and readers...everyone in my SOI...for Active Rain and its members and staff...

How about the abundance of food, clothing, plush surroundings that we enjoy as Americans...Our heritage, our ancestors, our good public servants, our military, past and present, our policemen, firemen, municipal employees, educators, clergy, religious, etc...

Maybe it's not a coincidence that we should be thankful two days a week...

Maybe EACH DAY deserves a measure of thankfulness, gratitude, and gratefulness!!!

Everyday I wake up and see my kids, my wife and I are healthy with a roof over our heads I am thankful.

It is always nice to just wake up sometimes!

Hi, Fran--I recently started a gratitude book, and it is truly amazing how much we have to be grateful for -- even the seeminly smallest things like a car that starts in the morning despite the bitterly cold Wisconsin winter temps, the "out of the blue" referral from a past customer, the dinner invitation from a friend, or the carefree laugh of your 2-1/2 year old nephew. I am finally learn to grateful for all the good in my life rather than think about what I might not have. Thanks for the great post!

Tom,

If everyone did this, it would cause a turn in our economy and society the likes of which no one has ever seen before!!! :) Thanks,   Fran

Fran, every one of my days starts with saying out loud what I'm grateful for and asking for help and guidance where I need it.  I also have been sharing with many lately about my "bug me" box - a place to put my negative, doubtful and frustrating thoughts - helps make room for the good stuff and I'm blessed to have much of it.  Thank you for your great thoughts - I am grateful for you and the way you share. ~Anne Marie

We are so easy to criticize it should be easier to say thanks. THANKS FOR THE REMINDER.
