What's in a name?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Vic Steele, Broker CA DRE 01349863 CA BRE 01349863

Something that I initially thought was an anomaly happened to me for the third time yesterday. I'm pretty sure that 3x means it's not an anomaly anymore.

I decided to check in with the people I care about the most; you. When I started my own business in July 2008, I didn't want to name it Steele Realty. I wanted a name that would convey to my clients and my peers that they can rely on me. I checked with friends on several ideas and we settled on Valet Real Estate Services. I absolutely embraced the name as it represents someone that you trust with the things you care about the most. I never looked back...until now.

In the last two weeks, I have had three different people pronounce my company name Vallot Real Estate Services. (Rhymes with ballot). Now I don't know what a Vallot is so I don't know where that pronuciation is coming from; still, I wanted to check in with you because I care what you think.

Do you think Valet Real Estate Services is a good choice for a business name or does it need to be revisited?

Please post your opinion. It means a lot to me.

Vic, I like the name and would know how to pronounce it properly. Stick with it and help educate the few who don't know what the picture on your logo means ;-)
