I have been a photography nut for a while.  I purchased many cameras from stores or online.  With the sight down turn in the economy I decided to look for a new camera body on craigslist.org.  To my delight I found a used Canon Xsi for around 400 body only, with all items and box.  I tested it and found it to be just what i was looking for and at a bit over $325.  This is still a lot of money but a great deal.

One cut back stragety is to purchase some good used items instead of new.  I have taken some pictures of listings and will be using it for business.

a good photo can speak volumes.

pretty nice camera and I can uses the lenses I already have for my Xti

Nice score David...I would have expected that to be $700 minimum (and at a Costco price).  Someone mentioned that I should put a racing bike on Craigs to see if it sells.  Easier than ebay and no "membership" stuff. I hink 'll try it...

Mike, as soon as my wife returns from her trip with the xti i will shoot a pic of the xsi (that why needed to buy one) but it was in great condition and had about 3500 shutter acs.  But a great price with a bit of negotiation (but thats our job)

thanks for the comment

Craigslist, though a bit disorganized, is a good resource.  I will never by many items new again after finding them on Craigslist.

Craigslist is my best resource since I moved to the Bay area in 2001. It's really amazing the stuff you can find on this site including homes and realtors :)

I am a definite craigslist fan.  When we were moving back to the States from Beijing, I even helped my husband find his current job through craigslist, in addition as a condo to rent, most of the furniture to start us off, a Yamaha Clavinova at a fantastic price, etc.  It takes a little patience and perseverance but can definitely pay off.

So many great deals on there with a down economy. I have found some new things that I wanted to buy for half. HALF! I love it!

Thanks for the reminder.  As an inspector I go through the cameras. (they just don't like to go into crawlspaces!)

I forget about this online pawnshop sometimes.

Thanks again.

Great David,

You hit another topic that I like.  I really enjoy craigslist as well.  I have been using it for years.  I have bought and sold many things on there before and have even found jobs on craigslist.  It is a free service and a great way to see something in person before you buy it, unlike the online purchases where you do not get to see and hold the actual item you are buying.

Thanks!

I have sold a lot of stuff on craigslist, from a foreign postage stamp honoring John Lennon to my 1999 Yamaha Virago 1100 motorcycle. Books, model trains, collection of 15,000 CDs, plants, refrigerator, furniture. Never had a bad experience or a complaint from someone who bought from me.
