Day 27:  Local Secret

I just discovered that blogging really can increase your presence in your local community.  The best part about blogging is that you don't have to spend any money and all it really costs you is time.  So if you want to market yourself, start blogging.  Blog about relevent material though.  Blog about your community.  Be professional and try not to be bias.  A great way to blog about your community is to blog about community events.  It demonstates that you are informed and that you know what's going on.

Localism.com will recognize you if you are actively blogging about your community and about the events happening in it.  You will be rewarded if you write good blogs, use a lot of pictures and blog regularly.

I wrote two blogs about the Flotilla and I became a "Top Neighbor".  That says a lot to me.  That says that not a lot of professionals are utilizing Localism.com; at least not in my area.

I hope that this post will help everyone to realize how powerful Localism.com can be.  I plan on focusing more of my attention to it.

Hi Paul - Blogging does increase your Internet presence and your information does appear in some of the searches people make.  Writing blogs is free.  Having your AR blog visible to the public (via the new upgrade feature) will cost.  I blog here but also post my blogs on a free google blog that I link to my pesonal website.  It serves my purpose just fine.

I just took a blogging class and one paticipant commented that he was too old to blog. I found that really funny as the instructor told him that age was no excuse.

It's good to know about Localism. It has been taking me awhile to figure out how each of these blogs are different and who is looking at them so I can make my posts more useful to the people looking at them. I'm enjoying blogging and getting a lot out of what I see on others' posts. Hopefully I'm giving back as well by putting out useful information.

I've been blogging for 1 1/2 years. When I got a blogging coach and learned all the ins and outs, my internet presense leapt. I am not only getting leads from my website, but also from my blog.  It Works!

Paul, I agree that localism is a good place to post blogs, and need to take my own advice.  I have been neglegent lately in posting to localism, but know that it does increase your exposure.  Thanks for reminding me to get back into localism posting.
