Well, First Federal, Family Services, Inc. and Trident United Way are reaching out to Lowcountry homeowners who are in danger of losing their homes with a free Mortgage Default Clinic. The clinic will be held on Saturday, January 10th from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the First Federal Corporate Center at 2440 Mall Drive in North Charleston. The purpose of the clinic is to provide solutions for homeownerswho are falling behind on their mortgage payments or facing circumstances that threaten their ability to maintain homeownership. All homeowners are invited to attend regardless of their lender, and all will receive personal assistance with a one-on-one Housing and Urban Development (HUD) counselor who may be able to provide options to foreclosure. Homeowners can review their situations with representatives from South Carolina Legal Services, Mortgage Advocates, Consumer Credit Counseling, Family Services, First Federal and Trident United Way. Clinics are scheduled for 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and no appointment is necessary. Anyone attending is are encouraged to chose the most convenient time and bring the following documentation:

Thanks Chris. I'd love to see more of these, too. I think they're an excellent way to educate the public and actively help those who need it.
HUD is a JOKE! I've been trying unsuccessfully to contact them for 3 months. Hud will not call back, email me or return my calls to them. My last contact with Hud San Bernardino, Calif was Sept 2008. I've faxed, called and emailed them. Do not trust Hud to do anything for you!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Yvonne: I'm sorry that you have been having so much trouble with HUD. I know for a fact that they have a lot of good programs to help people keep their homes, and that a lot of people have been helped. I hope that you will be able to get in touch with someone who will, in fact, help you.
