Boat docks have been a big item in Shell Knob real estate lately, as we ease into the summer mindset of sun and water. I sold a lovely waterfront lot Friday and there was a nice new dock with slips available, so this client wanted to secure a slip in the dock for their boat. The next question was about boat lifts, which of course, lift you and your boat up.
How do you protect your boat when you are absent from your cottage or summer home? The answer is to buy a boat-lift. This item will keep the hull of the boat clean and protected from algae, which coat the bottom and hinder the speed your boat can achieve.
A slip with a lift also prevents your boat from being knocked around and bumping the side of the slip continually, which can hurt your boat's hull and result in a hole
Most docks on Table Rock Lake will be Community boat docks and be roofed for added protection.
How big or powerful a lift you need is determined by your boat's dry weight - the size of the boat, plus it's fuel and passengers.
Harold Ward of Tri-Lakes Manufacturing in Shell Knob, recommends a Mozark four point lift which carries 6,000 pounds for boats up to 25 feet long. Their current price is $4,080. It can be delivered in approximately 10 days after placing an order.
The North American Marine Industries in Lampe has been expanding, and now covers trade shows across Missouri, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Texas. Their vertical lifts are priced from $3,800 to $5,000 to meet the needs of a wide range of boats. The price includes installation, which takes about a week after receiving an order.
Shell Knob does not have any dry dock storage at docks or marinas. These are employed at high traffic condo areas to save putting more community docks on the lake. They remind me of a parking garage, but for boats instead of cars.
