I was out yesterday, drove by the local BJs and saw that gasoline is now available around my area for $2.42/gallon.  Just 5 miles away in another little town, it was still 20 cents higher than we can get it here around Portsmouth, New Hampshire.  On the news yesterday, they showed a station somewhere in Missouri where it can be had for $1.99/gallon.

Sure wish home heating oil would follow suit, but I understand that because we're coming into peak usage months for that, the prices will stay about where they are for those using pre-buy contracts this winter.

What are the prices around other parts of the country?

Yeah, my reaction as well....WOW!!!  I do know they keep saying on the news that because the high usage months for gasoline are behind us, we'll continue to see the price per gallon continue to drop.  Wouldn't it be just so sweet to go back under $2.00?!?!?

Just think, remember the days when we gagged at paying $2.00??  Jeez.................

2.49 per gallon. We do not have heating oil. I have never sold a home or have seen on here that uses oil. its either electric heat or natural gas.

Gas prices have come down.  It's nice to see a lower price at the pump.

Homes that use oil for heat must be an East Coast thing.  I remember having to "pro-rate" the oil in the tank when I sold my home in New Jersey. Don't recall ever having to do that in Colorado.

Some remote areas use Propane, so we have to remember to pro-rate the tank then.

Vegasgasprices.com shows a range of $2.59 - $3.15 for the valley. Gasbuddy.com covers several other metro areas in the US and Canada.

Bear in mind that gas prices are dropping dramatically along with oil prices.

Friday's news (Sept 15th)

"WORLD oil prices dropped overnight, hitting a near six-month low in New York, after OPEC said world oil demand was weaker than expected in the first half of 2006.

Crude futures had risen slightly earlier Friday ahead of the OPEC report.

New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in October, slid 71 cents to $US62.51 per barrel in pit trading. It dropped overnight to as low as $US62.03 - the lowest point since March 22."

Bearing that in mind I filled up today (Sept. 16th) at a Conoco station in Knoxville for $2.16.9 a gallon, regular unleaded.

Regular varies in the mid $2's, but the local papers (South New Jersey) are predicting it'll be 2 or under by the holidays

The Naperville area currently is between $2.65 to $2.89.

Down from the summer highs of $3.30. Although I remember once fill-up in the summer of '05 when gasoline was selling for $3.40 a gallon. That hurt!

We are around 2.17 a gallon, different prices are due to the state taxes, CT has one of the highest gas taxes.
