Welcome to a day of photographs of Charlotte, NC

Charlotte is an amazing city with a countywide population of just over 900,000 people (in 2008) with approximately 700,000 in the city. The city of Charlotte employs approximately 434,000 people and the major employers are The Carolina's Health Care System (26K), Wachovia (20K), Bank Of America (14K), Wal-Mart (13K), and Food Lion (8.5K).

Charlotte is a vibrant city full of beauty, business, sports, culture, and the arts. Charlotte is Home to the Carolina Panthers (NFL) , and Bobcats (NBA), and the epicenter of NASCAR, with the vast majority of teams located within 50 miles of Uptown Charlotte. If you don't crave sports, perhaps the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, Charlotte Botanical Gardens, or one of the many museums is more your style.

Regardless of your tastes, Charlotte has something to offer you. An absolutely stunning city with 2 very large recreational lakes nearby (Lake Norman and Lake Wylie), over 23 golf courses, tons of shopping, and a cost of living below the national average, .... you just GOTTA see Charlotte!

This is the same vantage point as the photo above.  It's hard to say whether Charlotte is more beautiful during the day or at night.

Or perhaps Charlotte is most beautiful at twilight.

The Bank of America Building (middle) and the Hearst Tower (left) are two of the most recognized in Charlotte's skyline.

Here They are again at night, along with 525 North Tryon

The Westin, the moon, and traffic looking North from the Tryon/277 overpass

But there is much more to Charlotte then just tall buildings.  Seen here is Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers.

B of A Stadium again, this time at night

Charlotte is GROWING!  Including the NASCAR Hall of Fame (under construction)

Time Warner Cable Arena is home to the Bobcats, concerts, and other special events.

Light rail glides past the Time Warner Cable Arena

Don't forget to ride the Charlotte Trolley!

Those are some great pics.  I especially like the night scenes of the city.  One of these days I hope to make it down to to Charlotte.  Right now as I type we are in the middle of a blizzard.  It has been snowing since lunchtime and it doesn't look like it is going to stop anytime soon.  Snowball fight anyone?  LOL
