Post It Note Ideas

It's been three weeks since my Active Rain participation was put on a leash, so to speak.  I'd been struggling with pain in the top of my left hand for months and as much as I hated to admit it, preparing for the launch of my new website "Move To Lake Mary", all the blogging and commenting were to blame.

It's been very difficult to cut back - quietly not writing comments and posts, but I've been good girl and I am steadily increasing my time at the keyboard and so far, so good.

I really appreciate all the kind words of encouragement and emails from other Active Rain Members these past few weeks, it really has helped me get through my time on the sidelines.

I have a desk full of post-it-note ideas just waiting to be written.  Please stop by again soon or subscribe in a reader to see what's been going on in my world.

Richard makes an interesting suggestion, I wonder if anyone has tried using a program like 'naturally speaking' to write their blogs here.  It could really save you some pain.

Debbie, so sorry...I didn't know that you'd been having problems. Granted, we do spend a lot of time moving those fingers. Hopefully you've set yourself up so you have a wrist rest and whatever else would help to alleviate some of the stress. ;-)

Ouch! I hope the pain is just some simple over use of the keyboard. I must be lucky, even in the over bloging months I have been fairly pain free!

That is a new one!  I've heard of “Wii knee” before but not Active Pain.  It is crazy how some of this technology that is supposed to help us ends up hurting us :(.  I am sorry you are hurt but glad to hear you are starting to feel better.

Love your new site, gorgeous.  I hope you are feeling better.  I have not been around much either.  I have so much to say, but feel like I have writers block everytime I sit down.  I just need to write and get it over with.  I wish you great success with your site.

Hello Debbie,  sorry to hear of the pain you've experienced.  Years ago I came across an excellent solution created by a UW professior named Dvorak in the 1930's.  You see, the QWERTY keyboard was designed to be the most cumbersome keyboard layout to reduce the typewriter jams of the earliest typewriters.  When the jam-free IBM selectrics came out, Dr. Dvorak set about to map a more hand-friendly layout.  The Dvorak layout has 60% of the keystrokes on the home row - which means your fingers are much less active when typing!

I've used the Dvorak layout (free with MS Windows) for 18 years now, and the keys on the home-row are the ones showing the most wear; I can type much faster; and my hands don't hurt like they did before.  I personally think it's a shame we teach our kids the Qwerty keyboard when the Dvorak layout is more efficient and finger friendly!
