Light Bulb HeadI love Twitter...  140 Character Conversations- short, sweet and efficient.  I found Phone Tag in a link that @EricaMueller shared one morning and have never looked back.  Phone Tag is a service that transcribes your voice mail to a text message or email.  I know, you want it... don't you.

I fell in love with Phone Tag when I realized that I could respond to callers via email or text even when I was with someone and I didn't want to place a call in front of them.  Instant gratification and immediate appreciation for the caller when you acknowledge them.  It's a Win - Win.

The transcription quality is very precise - If you are interested in seeing your messages for yourself, you can try the service for 30 days for free by selecting this link.

You might just start thinking that you're it too.

Thanks Debbie.  I only recently subscribed to unlimited text and can remember how annoyed I used to get when I received text messages that would cost me additional dollars on my bill.  Try to keep that in mind and get permission to text to your friends or clients.

Thanks for the comments - I always ask my customers how they would like to be communicated with - most of the 35 and under crowd love texting, even some old gals like me prefer it over a phone call.  Gabe is right though - ask before you start texting, you don't want to cost someone money!

I love the visual voice mail that came with my new Blackberry Storm -- it allows me to listen to messages in the order I choose and call up the contact if they are in my addressbook and email or text them instead of calling back.

Good idea Debbie, is there much cost with this after your free trial?  Really sounds like a great way to screen your calls and know what is the most important ones out there.  No to say all our calls are not important, I think I will quit digging this hole I am getting myself into.  LOL  Thanks for sharing with us, and I like that pretty star you got for writing it...well deserved.

I soooo want it!

On a side note, Keep in mind that text messages can be found forever - and in a court of law - so if you don't want a record somewhere of your voicemails, don't try this.

Go ask Kwame Kilpatrick in Detroit!

Hi Debbie -- thanks for the info.  I've used Jott to send myself reminders, which e-mails me the text I've left myself a voicemail, and the quality has been pretty good, and best of all, it's free.

This sounds 10x better.

It can certainly speed things up.

There used to be a time when you could say it was in the mail, and that bought you 7 to 10 days.

Now, people are following up every 10 to 15 minutes or so!

Debbie, It does sound a lot like Jott. If it is it's an awesome service. I use Jott all of the time. It really comes in handy when I'm driving down the road and need to take a memo to myself. I just talk into my phone and will have an email waiting me when I get back to the office.

Hi Debbie~ Thanks for the info! This is great stuff!

The other night while I was out, I had to return a client call right away, but only had their landline office phone...so, I sent a text reply and my Blackberry transcribed it and sent them a voice mail message..loved it. They got the message and I didn't feel like I was ignoring them in their time of need:)

Debbie,

Heard of this and it sounds pretty slick for sure!  Our local provider asked for my firstborn ion exchange for the first month of service so I had to pass on it,LOL!  Take care and happy blogging!

I have been using Jott (www.Jott.com) which allows you to send vm and automatic email from your phone to anyone on your database, among many other services.

I will look into your suggestion and compare.  Thanks for the recommendation.

Debbie - sound like a great service. I have been using Voice Cloud, which sounds similar, for almost a year and love it. Being able to print out, store and forward hard copies of voice mail messages is very useful. I haven't checked by voice mail once since I started with Voice Cloud. And since I get email on my Blackberry it is easy to read the message, click on the phone number and dial the caller wihtout having to listen to a message or write down all the info. Love it. Gonna check out Phone Tag - thanks for sharing

Jeff

Interesting and informative.  I am trying to understand the net purpose of twitter.....but it usually takes me about a year to catch on to new tech items, so perhaps I will be learning soon.  Emailing and calling on the phone while being text is enough to pull my hair out at the moment.  Thanks......

Debbie "Phone Tag is a service that transcribes your voice mail to a text message or email" - How cool is that.  This gives me the ability to listen to my messages even when I'm in a meeting or with a client.  I can then choose to respond or not - via email or text.  I love it.  I'm gonna check it out.  Thanks for the info.

Debbie, Thank you so much for posting this, I will love to read a message rather than dial voicemail, wait to connect, wait for the lady to tell me I have a new unheard voice mail that I already know since I'm calling to retrieve it and waste minutes throughout the process several times a day. Thank You again!

Thank you for all the great responses and questions...

There have been a few questions:

  1. I've been using the service for about 2 months - I can't imagine going back to checking my messages, it is worth every penny.
  2. The service is $29.95 per month for unlimited messages - there are also other plans available.
  3. I've only had to listen to 1 message and I couldn't understand what the caller was saying either.

Hi Debbie -

This is what is so cool about AR - - You found something cool and you share it.  I wouldn't have even known to look for a product that does this because I couldn't even imagine that it might be possible - - I have to admit, I am the anti-tech, but this one sounds brilliant even to me.  Thanks.

There's another service that lets you call someone and go straight to voice mail. Their phone doesn't even ring. Just straight to voice mail. It's pretty cool, especially when you need to leave a message with a talkative person but don't have 30 minutes to talk with them about all the doom and gloom in the world.
