But goals are made to be achieved!

The problem with New Years Resolutions is, you break them. You resolve not to eat junk food. Then you walk into the office and there is a box of donuts for someones birthday. So, you eat one and now you have broken your resolution. And once you break them, they can fall by the wayside.

So, why not convert your resolutions to goals? Set a goal to eat healthier, work out more, make more contacts, touch base with past clients. Make them measurable.  Then, when you meet or exceed one of your goals, celebrate!

I learned many years ago that setting goals you cant achieve or know you wont doesnt help any at all. You just feel bad for not meeting them and feel like you let yourself down. Thats why I really focus and accomplish what I know I can do.

Or better yet, make them promises to yourself.  (I heard this through ByReferralOnly so it's not original).  You like to keep promises.

Hi Rich, Good point. I don't like resolutions for this very reason.  Great idea -turn them into goals instead and reach for the moon! Love it -keep the optimistic attitude!

Good idea.  I have stayed away from specific resolutions but have done the goal thing unconsciously.

I've never found a resolution I couldn't break.  I did away with them years ago.  Goals are much better their someting you can focus on year round.

Hi Rich!

I'm so proud of myself.  I wasn't even tempted by the huge box of chocolate donuts at our first sales meeting of the year.  I was actually kind of disgusted.

I don't do the resolution thing either. For me, it's a continuous improvement type of thing...

Just don't celebrate by eating all that junk food! -- LOL

I've been fortunate that my marketing guru convinced me to create a five-year plan (he helped me) and then break it down into years, months, weeks, days, and even hours (I do ActiveRain about this time each day) and then work the daily plans persistently and consistently. By doing that, those weeks, months, and years just naturally fall into place.
