I have been tracking the progress of the new Stone Hill Town Center over the past few months.  Since it sits about a mile and a half from our home, I am very much looking forward to the opening.  Home Depot has been open since last May, standing as the lone store until Verizon Wireless and Mattress Firm opened last month.

I read that Best Buy's grand opening will be February 27th, and SuperTarget will open nine days later, on March 8th.  Bealls is also expected to open sometime in March.

Other springtime openings at Stone Hill include:

  • GNC
  • Quizno's Sub Shop
  • Sport Clips
  • Rack Room Shoes
  • rue21
  • Maurices women's apparel
  • Chick-fil-A

By mid-summer, Dick's Sporting Goods and PETCO should be open (probably July).  In the fall, Office Depot will debut there.

Unfortunately, some of the planned tenants are no longer intending to participate, primarily because of nationwide cutbacks.  Chili's restaurant will not open at Stone Hill after all (which is a disappointment to the Crouch family), nor will 24 Hour Fitness or the planned Cinemark theater.  Apparently, the developers are still hoping to have both a gym and a theater, but it may be different companies that end up opening in this particular center.

Jason... I agree... it looks like it's going to be a great area with many stores. I like the layout... I went to college for Landscape Architecture and I remember doing drawings such as these....  I like it..

We just got a shopping Center like this about a year ago.  It is soooo nice!  You will love it when they are done.

Jason,

It looks as though there are a lot of good nameed stores that are coming to the mall and who knows there may be a really good restaurant come to the mall too.

Sounds like a shopping center that was recently put in here.  We have Target, Pets Plus, Maurices, Best Buy, and more.  I loved it during the past holiday season.  Best Buy was absolutlely packed every time I went in there.

Jason...we are seeing the same thing happen in our area.  even established stores are now rethinking their current status!

Jason ~ looks like a great shopping center ~ very nice with good architecture and design.  I am planning to do a post on our shopping center also that is still under renovation but experiencing some of the same issues on placement of tenants.  Your family will really enjoy this center in the future.

Looks like Austin is still thriving! Thank God I don't live near that mall; Chick-fil-A and Target both in the same place? I'd be 10lbs heavier and $500 poorer. :)

Jason,

My friends and I want to see a Alamo Draft House put in now that the Cinemark is going away.  Make it happen. :)

CHAD - I like the way you think.  I used to have a good contact with Alamo, but he left the company.  I would love to see that happen.
