What do Squidoo and Active Rain have in common

If I could just Post 140 characters like Twitter I wouldn't have to worry about spell check or anything else. Think of all the time I would save learning if all of the Social Media sites limited what we wrote. All day I have been reading about basic HTML, and how to put it into my Squidoo Lens, as well as how to write better, run faster, and every other word and phrase to say write something someone will want to read.

I have decided that 2009 is going to be my year.... learning new things, and hopefully learning them well enough to increase not just my knowledge, but the relationships that make all this online stuff so worthwhile. That is why I keep trying to learn something new. Squidoo and Active Rain are both about writing, content, and relationships......one is Real Estate oriented, and one is everybody and anybody writing about their passions. It is the writing and relationships that I like about both of them.

kathy- I am not on Squidoo (yikes something else to add to my list) but I am, like you, making this the year I learn new things and learning them well. It is a never ending challenge for sure. You are already light years ahead of me on the social networking media but I keep hoping that as long as I keep at it I will catch upyo you someday. :)

Squidoo? Huh. See, Kathy you are by far not the only one with a lot to learn. I'll have to check into it to see what I could do with it. I think you are a wonderful writer and you already are doing things right. So there.

Martha-I remember the first day I saw you...I was, and am, impressed. So if you say you are going to learn these things, I am sure you will do well. Heck I am more like the Tortoise instead of the Hare, so you may very well pass me LOL :)

Deb-Yea, I like that platform...it has a lot of creative ways to write. I have now met 3 new people that are not in Real Estate or an affiliate field...which is nice. I just entered a contest that will be on International Friends....but unlike writing a Post here, the Squidoo ones take more time, and you can keep updating them.

Pete- There are so many...I just chose that one as it fit my needs :) I too do FB, but Squidoo really is more like AR.

I signed up for squidoo but haven't had much time to play with it.

I can barely keep up with Twitter, but I want to make better use of that, as well as trying out Squidoo. There's so much I want to do and so little time......(sigh).

Kathy, I will check out Squidoo. Thanks for the explanation! I have heard about it but never really knew what it was. Perhaps it will do some changes like A.R. and the HTML will be available. Or.....can you copy and paste from another blogsite that will allow you to click on and show the HTML?

I have a couple of lens there, probably something with Ann Arbor RE. But, I haven't been on in months. I know Kateria loves it. I am putting the most into my blog here and outside of AR blog, Twitter and FB. Lani, did make me learn a little html to write on Agent Genius and now I love it. I'll try to learn some more this year, but I am concentrating on video for my listings. My big challenge for 2009 as I hate the upload time.

I am so glad you posted this. I just remembered that I joined Squidoo awhile back and have not returned since! I need to check that and and I will get back to you with my "lensmaster name" when I do! Thanks!

Neal- I'm afraid to even know which ones I signed up for and never went back to :)

Ann- I understand, and my advice is to not worry about them all....pick the couple you want to do, and learn those, and do them well. Better to have a couple we do well, then a whole bunch that are neglected, or minimal effort goes into them.

Jane-You have heard of Seth Goodin? Squidoo is his baby.....If you need someone to guide you through @GypsyOwl (Twitter name) has tutorial classes. She is my mentor while I am new.

Missy-Isn't it amazing how much we've learned in the past year? There are way too many sites, and I have limited myself to 4...Active Rain, Twitter, FB, and now Squidoo.....and of course my own outside blog. This is more than enough for networking, building new relationships, and meeting my creative needs :) Best of luck with the video, I know you'll have it downpat in no time .....

Kathy I am very far behind on Squiddo. I have started a lens but never finished however I too am learning html, xhtml & css cool stuff I say.

I am amazed at how few people know about Squidoo. It is another great site that will give you a position in the serps. Check out my Hopkinton Massachusetts Real Estate page.

Ron- No no....don't rush out, learn what you already started :)

Nannette-It's that 3 things at once behavior LOL :) You will learn the other things before me though, as I have a tendency to learn what I need, then go back as I need more :)

Bill-Thank you....now have you thought of updating it to include current stats, and current listings LOL :) Someone just told me today to build a RE lens, so will be doing that soon. Looks like you were/are way ahead of me....but that's OK cuz I'm catching up now.

Kathy, you have more energy then I do in learning all the new things on the web. GOOD LUCK!!!

Kathy, I have a Squidoo account, but have never done anything with it. I need to get myself organized to keep up with all the different technologies. I well get over there and check it out.

Kathy, I was going to mention that BGassett is big on Squidoo, but see he's already stopped by. You've reminded me that I am NOT on Squidoo...I'm going to be your shadow, okay? You'll see me before Groundhog Day :-)

I am on Squidoo.. I think, but I'm not sure. If I am I don't use it. There are just so many sites out there! Too many!

I think I signed up...anyway, after talking to you the other day tried to log in....didn't work...and they want you to sign up to comment...so just left. You're just a learning machine i tell ya.

Thank you everyone for the comments....I'm laughing at George...saying I have energy. Not really you see I didn't make it back here for a week LOL :) But I have my Squidoo Lens done now....one that I was putting into a Contest on International Friendships.

I'm smiling at all of you that said you think you have an account, or you signed up for one, but forgot....yep I have a few of those places, I know cuz they're in my Bookmarks LOL :)
