More Than a Virtual Family

To all my active rain friends:

Thank you for allowing me and my best friend, Jackson in to your homes and offices this past year. Your comments on our fishing trips, mishaps, and daily lives always made me smile. Your support and comments over the past two weeks have meant more than I would have imagined.

Jackson had to say goodbye yesterday after 13 long loving years. He died just as he lived, in my arms.

Your kind emails, comments, phone calls, and prayers made the last two weeks bearable. It was amazing to me, how some of you knew so much about my best friend.

Thank you all. The loss is enormous, I am certain it will take a long, long time for me to feel like myself again.

I know the captain is waiting for me in heaven. My sincerest appreciation to my Active Rain family. I promise to be back soon.

Cherimie, I am so sorry to hear of Jackson's passing. I know your memories will help you to find comfort. Now, he is at peace and he knew that you loved him.

Cherimie, I am so sorry to hear about Jackson. Losing a beloved dog is a huge loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. Those of us who have loved and lost beloved pets now just how deep this hurts.

Cherimie, we are sorry to hear of your loss and I know it will be difficult to adjust.

As sure as I am that you were devoted to Jackson, Jackson was devoted to you. I am sure that he would not want you to be sad. I'm sure he would want you to invest your devotion and love into another soul that needed and deserved it.

As Jackson now romps on the far side of the Rainbow Bridge he is without pain and sickness.

My heart goes out to you in your loss. I hope that you will share your strong heart with another dog one day. Jackson would want it that way.

I know how you feel. I lost my irish setter after 16 years. It's kinda hard. I'm sorry to hear this.

I am sure Jackson is fine and waiting for you playing and romping around on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. I do know it is hard we lost Bubba last year and he was the sweetest old man you could ever meet. We only had him for a year (rescue) but, I am positive he had a wonderful year with all his new brothers and sisters.

I can't tell you how very sorry I am to hear this. My heart is with you.

Oh no, Cherimie. I am so sorry. I know what Jackson meant to you. Also, I know that no person or animal will ever take his place. He will always have that special place in your heart. You take care of yourself and take some time for....you....I know that is hard for you sometimes, so please do that for me. Let me know if you need anything at all. I saw your f/b update - so sorry Cherimie. I know you loved him to pieces and he loved you. I am sure he had the best puppy dog life a dog could have with such a marvelous & caring owner. KM

I share a tear with you as I know how it is to lose a special pet. I too have held my pet for it's last moments and just know that it is true love and comfort he felt. Your memories will always be there and your heart will hopefully find a new special little one to make new memories, not replace but to share. Best wishes!

I mentioned before that my kitty who we owned for the past 16 years went to heaven earlier this year.

I feel your pain. And even after all this time, I still have an ache for him in my heart, but when I think of him I can smile now and his memories make me happy and comforted.

You were both lucky to have found each other.

Cherimie, I am so sorry for your loss. I had to put my best friend (Buddy) down several years back and held him as he fell into a deep permanent sleep. I cried like a baby so I truly understand your loss.

Oh Cherimie, I am so so sorry. I am so glad he had such a great life with you! I know he was your best friend and I don't know why they have to be here for such a short time. Leesa lost her doggie, Scout on Friday. My heart is broken for both of you.

Cherimie, I'm sending you some AR hugs. I dread the day that I have to face this task with my two furry friends. It's a great reminder for me to cherish the time I have with them. Thinking of you during your loss.

Cherimie, My heart is broken over your loss of Jackson. I was reading about your feast on turnip greens and remembered he had been sick and scanned down to see if there was an update. Bless your heart, I know this a sad time for you. I can tell that you are staying very busy which does help to heal.

Cherimie, I am sorry. I just got the news a few months ago that my "Toby Bell" that is 10 years old has a heart condition. I am constantly preparing myself...but how can you? My kids are not home now and he is everything to us. I love the pictures of you and Jackson. My heart is sad for you.
