Major Airlines testing Jatropha Bio Diesel in their planes....
Here is another post from my Things to Consider Series where I am on an "appreciate ya'" mission to emphasize the amazing contributions of the BRIGHTEST and the BEST here at Active Rain...such as the value-added content from the ECO -friendly "stars" at the Eco-All-Stars Group
I "appreciate ya" so I am 1) Reading like crazy, and 2) ReBlogging the posts that insist I stop to read them and 3) Sharing them with you.
Here RICHARD talks about ECO-Friendly skies. I happened to see a piece on this on TV this week...imagine the possibilities!!!
Air New Zealand just wrapped up testing a new bio diesel in one of its planes. The Bio Diesel they selected is called Jatropha. Jatropha Curcas is a plant that grows were really nothing else would even think about growing. The plant produces seeds which when crushed yield an oil that can be make into biodiesel!
It's great to see the airlines testing this out and thinking about "greening" the skies!
The process to import this seed for growing in the USA if fairly involved and takes awhile.
The seedlings were once being sold on the internet a year ago for $5 dollar for one 6" plant!!
To Green Diesel!
