I met Rita Sheese on several occasions during meetings with AMPI either here in Playa del Carma or during a presentation in Cancun.  This past summer, we both took a diploma course on Mexico Real Estate together and I had the chance to know Rita in a different setting.  I was impressed with her experiences in real estate but what I was most amazed upon, was her energy and enthusiasm to continuously learn more on the subject with trips from Cozumel every Friday and Saturday for several months during the period of the course.  Last week I had the chance to interview with her how things are progressing in her market at Cozmel. 

Rita is the current president of the AMPI association in Cozumel.  She has been residing on the island for close to 20 years, and has been active in the real estate industry ever since 1985. 

I asked Rita about her track record in Mexico Real Estate and she replied that she specializes in Mexican Caribbean Properties.  Her first sale here in Mexico was in 1985 and that occurred there on the island which was the start of her passion in the industry.  Ms. Sheese presently serves on the Urban Planning Department, as well as the Strategic Planning Commission for Cozumel.

"Why would you recommend buying real estate in Cozumel?"

The people, the water, and the air of the island.  She stated that the island is small town livingon the Caribbean waters.  Nature is an important part of every ones life on the island with a great appreciation in protecting the beautiful corals, beaches, jungle, all the natural assets found on Cozumel.  "This is Real Mexico", and on an island that is very easy to arrive from many cities of North America with direct international flights. 

I went on to ask Rita "who are your typical clients?".

She replied that they come mainly from Canada and United States.  An island community is what the majority of the people are seeking when they invest in Cozumel.  "They choose the island living first and then the property."

Cozumel is approximately 5 miles wide and 15 miles long off of the Mexican Caribbean coast line.  It is famous world wide for the amazing snorkeling, scuba diving, and beaches.  It is Mexico´s number one cruise ship destination and has recently undergone a face lift in the main square with a project that widened various streets and sidewalks of the center. 

Rita finished our talk by extending an invitation to her office- "If you are coming to Cozumel on a cruise ship or on vacation, please drop on in.  I would love to meet you and we can chat about our little island.  We are a very short walking distance from the cruise ship pier at 5th avenue with 5th street (calle) very easy to remember 5 and 5."
