Property Managers Payment/Commissions

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Blue & Gold Realty

I have a general question reference agents commission/pay for conducting property management services.  I have an agent who would like to specialize in propertymanagement, and wanted to know what the industry standard is for paying the agent?   Is it a percent of the montly fee, any split on other misc fees such as leasing fees?

Thanks..

Call Dave Roth in Vacaville or Bob Machado in Sacramento * you can find them through the NARPM website.  You want to pay what is customary for your area.

Ken,  there are various ways to compensate an agent same as various ways to charge for services.  Like Wallace says, it is often based on custom.  But you can create your own custom if you know your costs and the time to perform each task.  Some brokers pay a percentage and some pay hourly.  We pay a % with various incentives for our pm's with a minimum.

Thanks for everyones reponse.  I have been checking locally to find out what the standard is.  It varies dramatically from office-to-office.
