Here's a fast link with some interesting SOCIAL MEDIA STATISTICS that show what a phenomenon social networking is.

I've been playing with this for a while, I guess you could call it, because I'm not nearly at the level of a lot of ActiveRainers as far as the intricacies of the whole social networking world.

I've been intrigued by twitter mainly, for whatever reason.  It's fast and you can pick up a lot of news from your 'followers.'  For example last week I learned that a legal firm in Charlotte had laid off 28 employees.  Also I connected with a golf course that signed on to put their tweets out for the world, and in the same day was offered a free round of golf, so you can't argue with that.

I'm following two governors out of the 50, and have been followed back by one of them.  Our SC 'guv' right here in Columbia hasn't followed me back, but I suppose I'll keep following him, although I normally don't follow folks for long if they don't follow me back... What's the point?

At any rate, enjoy the stats.  Some of them are mind-boggling!

Ann, as Ronald Reagan said, "Well, there you go again."  I don't know what you're talking about!  Ha.  No I don't think so.  I see that twits, or twitterers are having meetings around the country and guest speakers, etc...  There's a very active one in Greenville, SC.

Charlie, I am not totally up on all of the media followings. Goodness, I only started blogging back in August and had never even heard of Facebook. I do not dig my myspace as too much junk kept coming in via email and requests. Have a great day.

Whew Charlie! I commend you for getting around the internet so well. My own capacity is necessarily much more limited - all I can handle for now anyway!

Eric, thanks.  MySpace seems to be 'younger.'  Maybe if you 'raise them right' they'll get their first mortgage through you.

Thank you Deborah. Time constraints are definitely a problem!

Evelyn, that's what I thought.  It's crazy!

Would some of you old people please follow me on myspace?  Charlie Harden (Just kidding!)

Dan, so does my wife.  The numbers are there, but she asks me, "How much money has 'social networking' brought you?"  She's like having a boss, but very smart!

Everything worth doing takes time. As much as we all love instant gratifiction, you are not going to find that with Twitter. Only when you break down, give it a chance and really try will you see the result you hoped for. I've been tweeting about 6 months, I get news before the news media and by following great marketing and business exec's I hear things I would never hear otherwise. The best part, I follow dozens of people in the local Greenville area so I know about all the local social networking events and business meetings. I have conversations with people all over the world on a daily basis, how great is that. Check out Twello.com find people that interest you and just follow them. Just like AR if you give it time, it will pay off!

Find me on Twitter!
