Facebook: Difference Between Sharing and Over-Sharing?

So, my increasingly long-standing flirtation with Social Media has officially entered phase 2. I call this my Facebook Phase. Why does Facebook get it’s own task number you ask? Let me see if I can put it in perspective for you.

If it were me, I would err on the side of caution. Once the client is in your car looking at property or you are in his/her livingroom listing the house, you get to know them a bit and then decide if they can handle knowing their REALTOR likes to hot tub naked on vacation. If not, you can choose to leave that part out while still letting them know you are a fun, competent, professional agent.

I am careful what I put on facebook as a professional image is very important to us. I also like to keep the agent/client relationship strictly business at first, but in a fun way. Over time, we get to know each other but I do like to make it all about them and only offer personal info about me if asked. Once the transaction is complete, them I'm more willing to open up and will invite them to be facebook friends.

I don't necessarily meet a lot of people on social networking sites like facebook, instead I find those that I already knew. I think Facebook is an excellent tool for KEEPING IN TOUCH WITH THOSE YOU ALREADY KNOW, but be careful about making new online friends!
