Two weeks into the new year and I need to ask you, WHERE ARE YOU IN YOUR REAL ESTATE CAREER? 

I ask this for several reasons. The most obvious one being that most boards are now renewing memberships, and I am anticipating a BIG DROP.  I don't have the stats yet, but I am working on collecting data here in California for the number of NBA's (No Broker Affiliation).

Most Realtors have spent the last year spending their hard earned money on things that didn't work and then didn't keep track of where that money went.  That was where a business plan would have come in handy. They would have set money aside for the New Year and known exactly where to "INVEST" it this year!

I mention INVEST because most Realtors don't think of the money they spend as an investment in their career.  They look at "BUYING BUSINESS", but that's different then growing your career! 

How many classes did you attend last year that were about Real Estate Transactions?  How many were about how to protect your client?  How many did you pay for and how many were offered free through your local board?  How many seminars, meetings, and training classes did you attend that were offered by your company?                                    

Sure, designations are great to have...especially if they give you knowledge that you can share with your clients, or use on a daily basis to keep yourself to the highest standard and protect yourself from lawsuits.  But if you're looking to get certified in "being green" because that's how the next generation of buyers is going to go, you've missed the most important lesson....you need to be EDUCATED to make sure that you are the EXPERT/COUNSELOR/ADVISOR for your client. 

That will in turn, grow your business.  How? By referrals!  That is the BEST investment you can make!
