I made two appointments yesterday, Sunday, to show listings this morning. The first was totally prepared with a few lights on, picked up, and tastefully arranged. It was also overpriced. The second was perfectly suited to my clients however, the sidewalk and drive hadn't been shoveled, the curtains were closed and no lights were on, dirty dishes were laying about the less than clean kitchen. To top it off the seller obviously has an affinity for Harley Motorcycles as the house was a shrine to the bike. It was very well priced. No amount of discussion could get the wife interested in pursuing what would have been a good home because of the condition. As professionals in a challenging market we need to educate sellers of the importance of "staging" their home for sale. Unfortuneately my buyers missed out on a good home and the seller will have to keep reducing their price to pay for the clutter.
