This sole beachcomber (my beautiful wife) was caught walking on the beach in Cape May this evening. Aside from me taking the picture she was the only one there as far as you could see in each direction. This is one of the treasures of working and living in this area is to be able to get away in just a few minutes from home. Even though times are tough the draw to the beach has endured for centuries , surviving many economies, wars and everything else this country has been through.  It was a reminder to me to take the time to appreciate the simple things around me .

Hi David - what a beautiful picture, and a nice reminder to take time to appreciate and enjoy the simplest of things all around us.  I live on the coast, too, and it's so easy to just take for granted what's all around us.

What are those things that are sticking out into the water?

They are overflow drains from the street . What is funny is that in the summer they are almost covered up.  We just call them jetties .

I saw Cape May and had to comment.  We spent a week there every summer during my childhood and those times are full of great memories.  I need to go take a few minutes to walk on the beach.  I love being only a few minutes away from the beach but sometimes forget to take advantage of it.  Beautiful picture and thanks for sharing.

Hi Ann,

I imagine the beach in New Hampshire is a bit chilly these days. I was up in Northampton Mass last week and it was a balmy 9 degrees.
