NEW TO ACTIVE RAIN FROM STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK

Hi, I am Damika Alessio from Appleseed Realty GMAC Real Estate. I am new to active rain and have been trying to find my way around the site. I have noticed all the very informative blogs and hope to contribute to this great site. If anyone has any advice or tips to give me, please let me know. Keep your eyes out for my first official blog.

Damika - As someone who's only been here about three months, I welcome you and encourage you to get involved. Join my group "Team RERockstar" for a host of people looking to help new members (it was started to help teach my invitees a bit about ActiveRain). You're more than welcome there.

Read lots of blogs from all over the country. Find your niche market and then be consistent. It takes time to build readership and build business but as a "lurker" I've had the benefit of seeing what works and what doesn't from lots of different perspectives.

Welcome first of all. I recommend you get on twitter.com I really don't understand how it works. Someway it will improve your google search when used with active rain.

Welcome to the Rain! I have four suggestions. 1. Read. Read. Read. ActiveRain is like a constantly growing library! 2. Start commenting on some of the posts you read. 3. Testimonials are very powerful. I suggest that you add at least two testimonials to your profile. 4. Block out 20 to 30 minutes per work day for ActiveRain. Make it part of your business plan for 2009.

The best advice I can give you is be yourself, this way people that are more like you will find you and hire you. Remember people hire people they know and like and this gives them away to get to know you before they ever talk to you.
