When I entered a retail store earlier today, I saw a small decal on the door advising, among other things, that "we are alarmed." Of course they mean it as a deterrent to would-be intruders. However, it got me thinking.
We all should be alarmed - at how our free enterprise system has been abused, at how we are tip-toeing down the path to socialism (and liking it), at how bailouts and earmarks have taken over for corporate responsibility and ingenuity, at how one disgruntled voice can ruin it for the many, at how the brilliant checks and balances system created in our Constitution no longer is, at how the judiciary (originally a minor player) is the most powerful part of government, at how we are longing for economic concepts already discarded by other nations, and at how we are so concerned about what other countries think about us.
Then after that alarm takes hold, we should be outraged - if for nothing more than our relative inability to get Washington to change anything for the better.

Hi Steve, I agree with you we should be very alarmed. The grass is actually very green where we stand and sadly most people don't see it.
