After many years in the business, it is hard to get surprised at anything.  However, this past week I had two surprises.

The first one was a house on acreage that I tried to show about a year and a half ago.  I could not get the owner to allow me to show the home to a qualified potential buyer because she had decided to take the home off the market and rent it.  I drove by several times during the next few months and there were people living in the house.  Too bad because it was exactly what my buyers had ordered.  We found something else though.

Last week to my surprise, the house came back on the market.  This time it had a new owner.  A foreclosure company now owns it because the renters moved out and the previous owner could not afford the payments.  Too bad she did not let me show it.  Her credit is down the tubes now and the house is not in the same condition.

Owners do get tired of showing their property and expecting a sale and they get disappointed when it doesn't happen as soon as they think it should.  But don't give up, like this lady did.  It will cost you dearly.

Another home, another story of a couple that has moved out and their home is about to be repossessed.  I had a potential buyer last week for them but they would not let me show it.  They have been trying to sell it by themselves for over a year with no luck and now have given up.  I don't understand this thinking when a real estate agent could sell it for them and save their credit.  They could maybe even make some money.  They basically are tired of trying and have just given up.  Please don't let this happen to you.

If you are trying to sell your home and not having success, call me or another real estate agent that is knowledgeable and successful in your area.  This is our business.  We are trained to help you sell your property in the fastest time possible, for the most money, and with the least inconvenience to you.  You go to a doctor, to an attorney, to a CPA, and to a dentist when you need these professional services.  Then, go to a Real Estate Professional when you need to buy or sell real estate.  It won't cost you more, it will save you more.

Ricki, sad stories for sure.  I'm sure they thought they'd save money by not having to pay the commission to the agent(s).  Instead they didn't get the properties sold and have lost them to foreclosure and ruined their credit.  Really sad.  :(

Hi Ricki... I think this market is wearing on seller's nerves to the point where they are not making decisions based on logic, but rather, on frustration!

Ricki, unfortunately I think this is happening more and more throughout the US.  With the news, the recession and the housing market in the state it's in, people are just willing to take the ding in their credit instead of hiring the professionals.  Sad.

hi, Ricki:
These stories are sad to hear.  Selling your home is a commitment to the largest assett you own.  It makes me crazy when people are "not in the mood" to show.  Like you said, they're giving up.  And these results may have been preventable.

Hi Richard,    Unfortunately, I think we will hear more of this too.

Hi Frank,    You're right, the news makes people lose hope.  There is hope to sell though if they hire professionals to help them.   I actually need listings right now.  I have buyers looking to move.

Yes Michael,    It's crazy that they don't want you to show their home when that is how it is sold.  I try to educate my sellers on showing their home and let them know it can be inconvenient but that is what we have to do to get a sale as fast as possible.

Carl & Ceil,  You are right, many are tired and confused and the news doesn't help.  I've almost stopped watching it and I can operate much better without a daily reminder of how bad things are when things are not that bad.  In fact, things are pretty good.
