HE DARED TO BE DIFFERENT

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Realty ~ 512.750.6899

I was on my way to an open house and I saw these signs along the road:collage

I saw this white haired man with a wide grin waving at cars & trucks.  There were pick-ups pulling over to get a stack of wood and as soon as they drove off the white haired man would set up 2 more stacks and wave at the new batch of cars going by. I had to laugh; we hamand been by several road side pick-ups with stacks of wood cut for purchase earlier in the morning going to church.  I never saw anyone; they were either sitting in their pick-ups or huddled by their passenger doors.

This man knew how to market!

Create an image and the weather was nippy enough that many decided he had something they wanted! He was only out there 3 hours and all his wood was sold!  It's amazing what a little ingenuity can do!

Dare to be different!

hi Dorie:
That is too funny - I saw this guy in January on 620 near Canyon Creek.  I chuckled... thinking it was a great gimmick.

My only complaint is that later in the day, I was following him across Mansfield dam, and the wind picked up, causing his trailer to knock around, and several pieces of wood out fell out of his trailer.

Not cool to see pieces of firewood tumbling at your truck at 60 mph!  No damage done, thankfully.

Great reminder of how powerful "selling a lifestyle" to your target demographic is without the client feeling they have been "sold".  He was giving them what they already needed or wanted...they just may have not realized it, yet.  Thanks for sharing!

HI Dorie

What a creative idea!  This is cleaver.  I am wondering if he sold out all of his firewood?

It goes to show that actions speak louder than words. Even if he didn't place those signs out in front of the road he stood out literally and pulled in the business.

Thanks for sharing Dorie.
