Think outside the boxIt seems that lately we have had to rethink our strategy on selling homes in this new market.  Now, we've done this before--each year as a matter-of-fact, but thinking outside the box has become a MUST for Realtors® these days!  Gone are the days of listing a home in MLS and not even having to make brochures or flyers because DAY 1, the Sellers have at least one Offer!  



From listing homes on every single online real estate site there is to creating elaborate flyers and brochures with the help of a graphic artist--a REAL one, not MY creative design (or lack thereof!) any longer--we are constantly tweaking our marketing plan.  Agents are talking their Sellers into offering gas cards, bonuses, higher agent commissions, flat screen TV's, paying HOA dues and even advertising their home on a site of its own.  



Thinking outside the box
Social networking is also another way that we promote ourselves.  Active Rain is one of the best  networking sites out there--and we certainly need to use it to our advantage!  Agents are working longer hours with a focus on advertising, marketing-- and do so with blogging.  Who BLOGGED five years ago?  Who thought that blogging would be so imperative to our business in 2008?  Who knew that our market would take such a dramatic turn in late 2007 which gave us the time to learn this new and creative way to network socially and sell our 'wares' in such a unique manner?



I certainly didn't!  Tenacity and creativity are what I've been using to keep up with the everchanging market!  With the market changing as dramatically as it has during the past year, business models and plans HAVE to change--and SIGNIFICANTLY!  I work far more hours in marketing than I did before and I am working long hours to undo what the media has done to scare away the buyers that we do have!  'Sticktoitiveness,' flexibility and continuous fine-tuning are my best recommendations!
