When we moved to Crofton from San Diego, California, Larry was a young Navy Lieutenant, just completing four years of sea duty.  We were very excited to have some time together after several lengthy deployments, and Annapolis was only about an hour from my family.

If you're headed to Annapolis to work at the U.S. Naval Academy or the Naval Station Annapolis, you're probably just as eager as we were - and with good reason.  This is a beautiful place to work and the Annapolis area is a fun place to call home.

There is Navy housing 'in the yard" and nearby across the street, but most people live in local neighborhoods in Annapolis, Arnold, Edgewater, Crofton, Severna Park, or Davidsonvlle.

You can just click on the links above to see homes in those areas and get a preliminary idea of property currently on the market.  Or, if you'd like to narrow down your search - for example, a community with waterfront amenities or a narrow price range- you can perform an "advanced search" and sign up for a free subscription to receive listing updates as new properties come on the market.

We quickly fell in love with this area and got involved in everything from sailing lessons and weekend sailing cruises with other junior officer families to worshiping at the Naval Academy Chapel.  We picnicked on the grounds to watch fireworks on July 4 and the Blue Angels fly-overs during Commissioning Week.

Larry's tour at the USNA was a wonderful time in our lives, and I'm quite sure that most Naval Officers enjoy duty there.  I can tell you with some certainty that their families like living in this area!

Hi, Cindy - I stopped posting photos when it seemed like there were enough... but I have bunches more, taken on a beautiful August day.  I'll follow up with more photos on another post sometime soon.

Mike - Did he go to the Academy?

Terry - Lots of new buildings since Larry was stationed there, but the charming old ones are, too.

Bill - That's one of the reasons I decided to post these - With 20 degrees outside, thse photos reminded me of how beautiful this area is for MOST of the year!

Margaret, I enjoyed this with having two sons in the Navy. Hope to make it up there sometime, going to San Diego in November for one of my sons wedding.

Wow that is beautiful.  I like the picture of all the boats at the docks that would be nice framed.
