An annual tradition in La Cañada Flintridge, the blooming of the camellias at Descanso Gardens is a site to behold!   According to the Descanso Gardens website "Descanso Gardens is home to the largest camellia collection in North America and consists of more than 34,000 plants. Descanso's Camellia Forest has both rare and familiar camellias and has been designated a Garden of Excellence by the International Camellia Society."

January and February are the best months for camellia viewing.  This weekend is the Pacific Camellia Society Flower Show at Descanso Gardens, behing held on Saturday, January 17 from 1 to 4 pm and Sunday, January 18 from 9 am to 4 pm.  This is part of the 2009 Camellia Festival at Descanso Gardens

This is an opportunity to see some of the most dazzling flowers!  On Sunday at 2 pm, Chief horticulturalist Wayne Walker will lead a tour of the camellia collection at Descanso Gardens.
