Painting Dining RoomHave you ever wondered what a room in your house would look like if you painted it?

Have you bought paint and painted a room only to find that you hated the color once it was on the wall?

Or worse yet, had the exterior of your house painted and the color you chose made it look like you were a light house with a beacon lighting the neighborhood?

We've all seen some of the bad choices out there and now there is a solution to help avoid costly mistakes when painting.

Well, there is a solution for you.  I found a site on the Internet that will be very helpful for homeowners who would like to spruce up the house and add a little paint.

Sharon, I was so excited when I found this to help the homeowner avoid those ghastly mistakes. Glad you found it helpful, too.

Hi Gena Benjamin Moore has a similar tool and I love it. I use it whenever I am thinking of changing colors.

Hi Bill, thank you for the additional helpful site. Does Benjamin Moore charge for the use of uploading a photo of a room or do they offer it for free.  I think Behr charges something like $4-$5 dollars.

Hi Gena,

Great info, I just cruised over to your link and took a look for myself. I just had some painting done last week and it didn't turn out exactly as I expected.  This should be a big help.

Lynda, wish I had put this up for you BEFORE you painted!  I was very impressed with the site and thought it was very user friendly and quite a help for homeowners.

Another important tip for homeowners considering repainting, especially those looking at putting their house on the market:  Hire a professional painter.  Painting is one job that it seems everybody thinks they can do well, but precious few actually can.  Maybe that's from all the HGTV programs, who knows.  There is a hugh difference in the appearance of a professionally painted room and a room painted by a novice painter.  The small amount you save by "doing it yourself" can really cost you in the long run if you end up with uneven lines, drips, stains, etc. throughout your newly painted home.

Marchel, I thought so, too.  Wish I had known about it a long time ago. For homeowners doing a little painting both inside and out, it sure will save them money and time from making some mistakes.

Roger, you are so right. I see many homes where the homeowner thought they could paint and left remnants on the ceiling and elsewhere.  I highly recommend hiring a professional as well however, when selecting paint this site will help with that aspect.

Hi Gena, Good tip. I use a site by Benjamin Moore. I always stress to my clients to use a quality paint. The cheap paint from the big box stores may have an attractive price but will only hold up for just 1/3 of the time as a good quality product. Painting is a big disruption to ones living space. You don't want to redo it 3 times as often:~)

Marian, how right you are. If you're going to spend the money and the time, it's well worth it to do it right the first time and have it last longer.

Thank You Gena, that is a cool site, I will pass it along to my clients once escrow closes, I am sure I can score some good points because of that.
