I had began the process of building a website of my own for my real estate business a few days ago, right before I first started blogging, and I quickly discovered that there were so many options for me to choose from that I found it simply overwhelming.
It would be easy to use an old cliche "the best bang for the buck" to guide my decision on which website hosting service to use, but with as many things as I want to do, and from some of the many great things that I have seen being used by the ActiveRain community, I am still at a loss.
I wonder how many new agents (0-2 years experience) are having this same problem.
I guess that if I was satisfied with the website that my boss encouraged me to sign up for, that this wouldn't be an issue. After all, it has the company name, it is easy to google, and most of the agents in my office are happy with it.
Well, maybe not. I asked one colleague "how much business have you giotten from your website?" and the response was "none...but it is a resource for my buyers and sellers". I have to admit, that was a bit depressing, and was one of the reasons why I decided to look for alternatives.
Or have I been deceived into thinking that having a website that "drives" customers to me is a viable alternative to the old methods of cold calling expireds and fsbo's? Being able to provide information about the real estate market to prospects is a good thing, but is it really the answer to creating a client base that can support a realtor's goal of selling over 100 homes in a year?
Or maybe a more realistic question is.....(see my next blog....)
