24, my show...What's yours?

Up at 7 am, coffee at 7:15 am...listening to messages and checking email by 8 am...responding to email by 8:15 am.

Coffee, shower, hair, dressing for the success of the day by 9:30 am (okay, I'm not really a morning person so it takes me 15 minutes longer than most, LOL).

Phone calls start to come in for showing instructions, customer's start calling, office is calling to tell you that there are faxes there. I LOVE MY JOB!

Happy to hear from the office, faxes are good...especially if they are referrals, qualified buyers, offers and the like...

First showing at 10 am, second showing at noon, third at 2:30 pm (I did need a few crackers and some ice tea to keep me going)!

Back to the office to check emails, to send new properties to the customers that I showed properties to today who after meeting with them the first time have narrowed down what they REALLY are interested in purchasing.

6:30 pm. Call and order food some nights, eat left over's other, depends on the level of exhaustion.

Home and back on the computer. Checking my email for the 4th time today.  Responding to emails. Listening to messages that were left during showings that I was unable to answer...have to hurry, don't want to call after 8 pm...tonight was golden...someone is interested in seeing one of my favorite properties tomorrow, will work him in somehow, no matter what.

It's 9 pm.  Let me see what's happening on AR...need to relax... OK, many say relaxing is not still thinking about real estate...OK, "Hell's Kitchen" is on TV...everyone knows I LOVE TO COOK! When I have the time, or when I'm stressed, nothing is better than comfort food...or a slow roast, a nice warm fresh soup, or a slow cooking lasagna in the oven on a Sunday morning so there is some food that is not a quick fix for starvation in the fridge.

It's 9:30 pm and I'm writing a blog...another relaxing end of the day for me.  After all, I've been know to do my best writing here at 2 am...WHY? Because my mind is on overdrive, I can't sleep, and I just "had a thought."  That's OK, I live alone and I'm not bothering anyone.  LOL.

So, I've returned emails, gave the customers 2-3 hours while I read and write on AR to reply...go back and check them at 10 pm to see if they are able to confirm showing times for tomorrow...

Sleep is over-rated.  Life is good, customer's are calling, makes me feel great.  I'll catch up on sleep when I have the time.  For me, I love to work, I thrive on helping people, and being able to do them a great service makes my world go round. I love this real estate industry and its not a job, it's a passion.

What occur's in your 24 hours?

(Sorry about the bold, It's just easier for me to read)

Lets see, first I am awaken by Marci, my cat.  When she is ready to get fed, she pounces on my face to wake me up.  One of these days, she is going to wear out her welcome. So I get up, let the dogs out, start preparing their breakfast and then back to bed I go.  It is only 6 am, I am not going to start the day that early.  So then I take a few more hours of sleep.  When I am well rested I get up again.  This time, I say my morning prayer and then it is time to check my bank account, emails, AR comments.  Next, I get in the shower, brush my teeth and get dressed.  I start returning emails, phone calls.  I check on my beloved pets one last time and then I am out the door.  It is about noon so I start calling friends to see who is available for lunch.  I usually do not have showing appts until 5 pm.  So in between I check on my listings to see that they have flyers and that the property is in good, clean condition. Then it is probably 6 or 7 pm so it is time to check emails again and AR comments.  Last but not least, I watch a little tv and it is time to sleep-around 12am. And so starts the cycle once again.

Karen, between the good cooking I know you do.. Raisins or Not?  and the 24 you just gave us, I know that we are sisters separated at birth!.  I have a great capacity for work...living in Florida I'm pretty sure you have no appreciation for the -40 degree wind chill I took photos in yesterday and today.  Remember, you can't wear gloves taking phoos.  It hurts right up to your elbows when you are out in that for 15 + minutes at a time. Frostbite, sure.  But, such is the life of a realtor these days.  Take care, see you on the recipe side, grrrrl.

Charles,

Not complaining, just a bit tired, plus my dad is in hospice, so there is a little, whole lot of other stress as well. Running my own business in FL and my Mother needs me immediately in Pa...as does my ailing father.

Larry,

I'm enjoying the craziness, however, I am close to exhaustion. But, I'm so glad to have the customers!

Try to take some time to rest.  All of these people who depend on you, will not have you at your best if you are exhausted.  Insert a power hour in your day.  Make it the time to call folks back and get what really needs to be done on that day.  The rest can fall in between and it will still get done.  You will, however, feel much better.  I hope that your parent's are okay.  Tough job.  Been there, done that.  I do agree with you, to do this job, you must be driven.  Brian Buffini has taught me to work smarter:)

It's a Good Life!

Karen I'm exhausted just reading about your 24 hours!  I have always been a night person.  I get my second wind about 10PM.  I keep a detailed goals and actions list on the wall to keep me focused during the day.

I'm also a Hell's Kitchen fan.  I scream vicariously through Chef Ramsey.  He is a great example of what is NOT appropriate to say to a client!

I can almost smell the lasagna that you mentioned.  It's Sunday, so I think I'll go put some on.
