While much of the nation is hibernating in their homes, steeped in frigid winter temperatures, here in the Raleigh area of North Carolina, we still have many winter days that are comfortable enough for a round of golf.

In fact, golfing is pretty much a year round sport in the “Triangle” region. There are over 25 public and nearly a dozen private courses just waiting for you to tee off! 

We even have a TPC golf course where many professional tournaments are held annually.

The Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic, named, and in honor of legendary NC State University basketball coach, Jim Valvano, is held annually in the Raleigh suburb of Cary. Notable celebrities who have participated in the past include Stuart Scott and Trey Wingo from ESPN, Aaron and Cam Ward from the NHL, Rick Cerone and Tony Womack from Major League Baseball and many other television and sports luminaries. All proceeds from the tournament go to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
