Well just like everyone I am back in the swing of things after the all the New Year doings.

I have been in the market for a new laptop for about a year and finally found one.   This is a very cool "tiny laptop".  I wanted a laptop that was low in price, this was $350 with no tax or shipping, easy to use, and compact.   That is what I got.

I looked at these for my kid....they are great looking! Can they work with a mobil card? They might be great to use in the field with clients?

Karen.  They can use a usb mobil card.  I am looking to get one next month.  I am going to use it to meet with clients on the fly.  I am getting tire of bringing the "Beast laptop" with me everywhere.

Tim

It is a great pickup

Thanks.

Jeff, I found one that ATT is offering for free if you get a 2 year contract for the air card. This netbook are the future. I like the size and capacity.

Looks cool...just how small is it?

Amazing what you can get for under $400.  Check out the Sony as well if anyone is interested in an ultraportable.  I would suggest against an air card because you often have to get a special stand alone plan for $40 a month or more to use it.  I tether my Blackberry and it costs no extra.

Frank, Sounds great,  Let me know if you get it.  I forgot to call it a netbook.

Kathy,

Folded it is 10"x8" x1" high.  I put it next to my current laptop and it looks like its baby.  You can see them at Circuit City if you can find one open.

Brian.  I was thinking of going that route as well.  My plan is unlimited so that would work great.

Hey Charles.

Yes,  I would,  I think the keys would be a great size.  Not a lot of moving parts.

Hope you are having a good year.

Hi, Jeff:
I have heard positive things about the Lenovo Netbooks - though I admit I am skeptical after selling IBM/Lenovo notebooks for over eight years.  They make a quality product, but their inexpensive lines were historically junk.  I will have to scamper over to Circuit City and have a look this weekend...

Note to your readers: Netbooks are all the rage for a quick, light, computer to carry around.  But their batteries are usually small and most do not have a CD or DVD.  So it takes some know-how or an external USB DVD drive if your software is on disc.

I have also heard positive things about the Dell Netbooks: Mini9 and Mini10...

Lastly, the Free Netbooks with 3G Contract are rumored to come Ad Supported - pop-up ads would make that deal a bummer.  Ask the carrier before you commit...

Hi Jeff, looks great...I have been using one of the note books that is the tablet and put my documents on them and let the clients sign and email them their copies from the kitchen table!  This hardly believe the technology.  Nice tech post.

Michael F.

I just networked my netbook with another computer.  I then linked to the disc drive and will install all my apps that way.

Pretty easy.

Thanks for the comments.  I will let everyone know if things go bad.

Gary.  That is a great idea.  I might look into one of those later on.  I have to give some of my laptops away.
