You can learn alot

I read a post today about the website www.websitegrader.com. It gives your website a grade based on many different aspects of your site. Now my site, www.tuprealty.com got a 36 out of 100. I was concerned that this was low. I have an IT guy redoing the site and all the stuff that the grader mentioned he has already fixed. So I feel very blessed to have a great IT guy.

He has taught me lots about how the web works. Indirectly He is why I am here. He told me the best thing I could do to promote my business is to blog. So I went out and started blogging.

I have to say if you are going to spend money on a website and you truely want a good web presence you have to get a good IT guy. He has single handedly boosted my site on yahoo search engine. He is working on google which takes a little longer to deal with.

The way google ranks pages is much different than yahoo and other engines. They are much harder to trick and actually penalize you for things that yahoo awards you for. Now I am a real estate broker. I do not have time to learn and think about all that stuff so I have hime.

If any of you want a great IT guy email me and I will happily pass on my guys info to you. You can see one of his websites at www.recoverysuperstore.com

Thanks for the tip.  I liked the site.  The home page of my website was at 45 but I liked all the information it gave.  My website is a constant work in progress.

A website grade of 63 for www.neworleanscondos.net means that of the thousands of websites that have previously been submitted to the tool, our algorithm has calculated that this site scores higher than 63% of them in terms of its marketing effectiveness. The algorithm uses a proprietary blend of over a dozen different variables, including search engine data, website structure, approximate traffic, site performance, and others.

I do not know the details but will look it over. Gave me a couple of ideas in a few minutes that I looked at it. Thanks for sharing. Eric

You're lucky with your IT guy - many of them know the technical side but not the marketing side.

That is WAY cool.  Thanks for the link.

I scored a 74 and picked up on a few tweaks that I should make.

I was not aware of this site.  Do you think that the analysis is accurate?

I submitted my site and received a score of 59/100.  Being a novice, I agree I have much to learn too.  Thanks for sharing this site.

Wow, what a wealth of information, thank you!  I see things that I should have been doing and am (adding an RSS feed) and other things that I want to discuss.  Still, my overall rating wasn't bad, 47/100....Thanks so much for sharing!

Jeff, great tool and thanks for sharing! My homepage received a 41% so I obviously still have a long way to go. As mentioned above, it's a constant work in progress and will never be complete but it's great to have a measuring stick to compare.
