New Orleans has great weather in the Winter, Low or no heating bills

These Japanese Magnolias started blooming in my yard last week. It not every location that is this lucky where you can play tennis outside at nite, see your flowers bloom and not have to worry about heating bills. Heating oil is unheard of here. I have a heat pump and the heater rarely comes on. We have our cool spells and sometime freezes but not this week in my yard.

You can probably tell I do not like cold weather. I love rain and we get plenty of that in large drops enoughto add up to 60 inches ore more in a year. No drought here.  Great place to have a second home for the weather and the culture. Mardi Gras is around the corner!!! Strawberries and Crayfish boils are getting nearer.

Hi Eric,

New Orleans is one of my very favorite cities.  I visited for several conventions and a CRS course. I can remember walking around the Garden District in January I think and calling home to tell them the grass was green.  Fabulous! What a place! Even though I've lived in New England all my life I'm no fan of cold weather. I console myself with the idea that cold weather kills bugs so it's good for something!

Liz

PS - I just love your slide show!

The normally nice weather, culture and friendly people Eric make New Orleans a gem for sure.

That makes me really miss our summer. We are having extremely low temp recently and our heaters can hardly keep up with it.

Eric, last Saturday had my first Crawfish of the season over out Deanies. They were small still and $5.99 a pound, still were good. Last night our first King Cake, did not eat any but look and smell very good. My little girl got the baby. The weather was a little cool for me yesterday on the golf coarse. Lakewood on the westbank is opening to the public the 1st of March. Things are looking up.

I don't like the cold, the rain, or the snow, which is why I moved to San Diego. I went to New Orleans at least twice a year from 1973 through 2001, always for Mardi Gras since I have relatives there in Slidell and Chalmette, and then again for either Southern Decadence or Halloween.

Russel, I am selling more second homes these days as people that have made it still feel an attachment to the city. We have gotten some corrections to make.

Love, love, love the music!!  Great post, New Orleans is an amazing city -- the people, the culture, the tradition.. it's truly like no place on earth.  In a word; it's 'smooth.' :)
