Why Your Cell Phone Company is Ripping You Off—Texting—Part 1

Everyone who has a cell phone is probably aware that the company they use is ripping them off. I mean come on just look at the bill once. The same was true before the age of cell phones, charging for every additional service and insanely priced long distance charges. Well the long distance is free today, sort of, but the companies involved have thought of a charge for almost anything.

Well what about text messaging?

What if you could market a product that costs you nothing to make and double the charge for this product year over year and the whole thing was quite legal with no one able to stop you?

Well the answer is sort of like that what if you were a red neck but insert Telco and you have the answer (You would be very rich) If this doesn't sound right or fair to you then you don't understand the friends with benefits program that these companies have set up over the past few years. Because it isn't fair but it is true. It costs these companies absolutely nothing to send a basic text message but the cost per text is $.20 to the consumer. Check out this article here. I suggest reading the entire article until it either makes you so sick you can't choke it down anymore or you just have to look away in disgust. The saddest part is that because of the high individual costs of sending text messages we seemingly have to subscribe to the unlimited text plans which is the exact thing these companies want.

On top of all this these companies have been consolidating which if you remember your history of these companies they aren't supposed to be doing. But when you are a Billion dollar industry you can pay people to look the other way...
