Arizonans - meet Californians

Go west young man.  Used to be a common theme many years ago.  Still happens in many cases.  But as California has grown and grown and grown.....I guess it was inevitable that sometimes people would depart from California to other states.  We all know in the 90's Californians migrated in droves to the pacific northwest.  Then it was Las Vegas.  And now?  Welcome to Arizona!

This article appeared in yesterday's Republic.  2004 appears to be the first year with more Californians moving to Arizona as opposed to Nevada.  Over 9000 drivers licenses from California are being traded in for AZ licenses every month!  Now, remember, neither place is cheap.  Median home prices are hovering around 250k in Phoenix and are even higher in the Las Vegas area.  But compared to some of the major cities in California, they are still dirt cheap!

So my fellow Arizonans - say hello to your neighbors from the west.  Soon they may live even closer!

Compared to Hawaii you are a bargain.  I lived in Tempe for a couple of years.  I used to tell my friends and family from Hawaii that we had a big beach near my house, just no water.

Kaushik, from what I have been seeing about California home prices on AR, Arizona is about 1/3 to 1/4 the California prices, so Arizona has to look very attractive to them.

Randy - Hawaii is an oasis.  Me thinks that the prices are justified.  However, if you do have clients who are looking for a 'cheaper' beach, without the water, send em' my way :)

George - In prime locations in California, a million bux buys one a shack....
