so I decided to give back to my community. Tomorrow I start my 1st day volunteering at our local food pantry, PRC = People's Resource Center in DuPage County, Illinois. I am very excited about my opportunity to help others and to leave this earth a little better than when I entered it.
It's not that I haven't volunteered before...my children and I have spent Christmas Day at our local homeless shelter in McHenry County, Illinois...my daughter donated her hair to children with cancer (after her diagnosis of JRA, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis), she said, "My hair will grow back, but their's won't"...she was only 6 years old at the time...and we donate to charities that have touched our lives.
I've always wanted to raise my children to give back. You know the old saying..."It's better to give than to receive." We never know what hardships we will face in our lives and I want my children to know how truly blessed they are. As my children grow (they are teenagers), I can honestly say that they are caring and giving individuals and I am very proud of them!!!! They too, will leave this earth a better place!!!
