I spent a lot of time working on a fun blog here. It was a chore going to Youtube and getting the appropriate links, but because of the music of my soul, I just couldn't resist. So, here's the STORY OF MY LIFE with music and real estate:
Let's Get This Party Started! I have two jobs in Real Estate. I'm a real estate attorney who practices in Illinois, but I spend 90+% of the time as a practitioner and originator and Vice President of Cherry Creek Mortgage. I specialize in helping people achieve the American Dream . It's a lot of work but I do it because I like it quite a bit....I help people and it pays the bills. This is a great business, but there are times that I'm taking what they're giving because I'm....Working for a Living.
So what makes this business so hard? First there's the collapse of the mortgage industry. There were so many companies that were going under. I love of realtors and originators left the industry. But what happened was those who stayed in the industry found the deals harder to come by. I'd seriously have to remind myself that BILLY OCEAN - When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get going. I push hard to this day. I know that REO speedwagon-Only the strong survive.
So the burning question for me is why do I make this the business of choice?
It's all about the people. First, there's the people that I work with. My co-workers are awesome, work hard and Bring me to Life, when life get's difficult. I have workers who challenge each other and KEEP PUSHING!!!!!! when others fail and want to quit. Ultimately, I want that accountability and having co-workers who push me to new heights strengthens my resolve in this business.
Secondly, the clients I work with keep me going as well. Like I said, I'm glad that I get paid, but there needs to be some give back and that give back for me is helping clients with the American Dream. If you think about it. The money they work for comes through a lot of sweat and tears. Clients need trusted advisors to help them nagivate their way through difficult challenges.
The bottom line is that I get to serve people and help them with their Dreams. Sure when rates drop we get take a Landslide of loans. I hate those that Jump Jump Jump around for mortgage services. They continually roam from one mortgage company to another. I want a true companion when it comes to client relations. If I serve you well, then I want to be your lender for life. If I'm working for you, then I just really need your loyalty as well. In the meantime, quit acting as if Something Special. There are the borrowers who lie and tell you that they saw a cheaper rate down the street or that their credit rocks when it is really crappy. During those times, I'm just want to say...Don't give me no Lines (and keep your hands to yourself). When it comes to some of their loan applications, I want to tell my staff to drop it like its hot, even though I don't. At the end of the day, there are certain clients that have Worn Me Down.
However, I'm MR BRIGHTSIDE. and most of the clients I love working with. I really do. There is s much enjoyment that comes from working with clients. Helping people who have dreamed of getting into a home, actually into a home really rocks. There is really nothing more rewarding than completing this process for the clients. That's what Dreams are made of. After every purchase closing, I do actually feel that it is a Beautiful Day. We've both won. They have their new home and I have a happy client. Nurturing that relationship is a lot of work, but I am still a Blue Collar Man.
Finally, my referral partners are SIMPLY THE BEST! They really are. We refer quality people back and forth to each other. But most importantly we bring out the best in each other. Our relationship is really just like heaven. We really like to bring out the best in each other. We build each other up. We have awesome client appreciation parties together. We inspire each other as well. Our relationships have lasted through the years and are never Hot N Cold as it can be with others.
