WelcomeIt was another glorious day, and Caleb really wanted to go to the airport. He's been asking all week to see our Beechcraft Baron, so off we went. N17577 is hangared at Martin State Airport at Strawberry Point.

Sixty years ago the area was buzzing with activity as the Glenn L. Martin Company turned out planes for World War II including over 500 B-29's, one of which was the Enola Gay.  The company also produced seaplanes and amphibians, and you can still see the launching ramps that run down to the water of Middle River.

These days the airport is home to the Maryland Air National Guard's enormous C-130 transports and a squadron of A-10 fighters. On the other side of the field is the general aviation area where we hang out.

Caleb was excited to see all the activity, and he hopped right up to try out the plane's interior. The headphones and seatbelt were a little big for him, but he didn't complain. What a trooper.

Next he investigated the instrument panel and even got up for a view through the windshield.

Actually, Caleb thought the outside was more exciting.  His personal pilot, TLH (Margaret's Lovely Husband) gave him a tour of the aircraft.

For a flat dude, Caleb has pretty good balance, as he proved by posing on the prop…what a showoff!

As much as he liked the plane, Caleb couldn't resist checking out the local news helicopter.  He figured they sent it to cover his visit. Will there be film at 11:00 on Channel 11's Live, Local, Latebreaking newscast?

After that much excitement we needed some lunch, but made one last stop for Caleb to get a close look at this sculpture of boy with his airplane - Caleb liked being with someone more his size. He made me sneak into a private office for this shot, but then we saw this sign. Uh, oh!

Baltimore is famous for great seafood, especially steamed crabs, so we took him to lunch at By The Docks. Caleb had an exciting encounter with a Chesapeake Bay crab but came away with all his arms and legs intact. Whew!

No Skydiving Photos....?   Hope Caleb can breathe with that crab pinching his snorkel.

Hi, Margaret!  Lovin' this!!  When I saw the title of your post I thought, "Oh, no!" -- we had a problem with Flat James and a bottle of wine .... you'll see later!!  Those boys can NOT hold their drink!

The picture with the crab is just too funny -- he actually looks worried!

Caleb's getting to do all kinds of cool things with you!  He's not going to want to leave!

Once again I am totally jealous of Flat Caleb!  Although taking a ride on the OUTSIDE of a helicopter isn't my cup of tea! :)

Dan, standing on the prop was as close as we get to sky diving. Remember we don't leave a perfectly good airplane! With Caleb's charming personality, he made friends with that crab right away.

Sarah, No booze while flying!  If there is a bottle..there is NO throttle! Or  '12 hours bottle to throttle', or something like that.....

Caleb, Having a great time. Try and Google "Flat Caleb". While explaining to a client, she went to google. We came up # 1.

Margaret, you are having waaaaay too much fun with flat Caleb! Did he go on a listing with you yet? Maybe you can put him out by the sign with some flyers, assuming he's not to high:)
