I'm sitting here minding my own business watching "Emma" with my wife like a good husband, when I decide to check my work email. What do you know, I've got mail. Karen Cooper has tagged for in a "MeMe!" post.

Karen Cooper, a loan officer in Ashland, Oregon tagged me in her recent Seven Things MeMe post:.

So, as with every contest, there are Rules.

Here are the rules:

1.  Create a blog post with a link to the person who so happily tagged you.  See above picture!

2.  List all of these rules in the post. Feel free to cut and paste this.

3.  Share seven things that others may not know about you.  Do I or have I HAD a life outside of real estate?

4.  Identify seven friends, contacts or near enemies in which to adorn this MEME. Tag them at the end of the post and give a link to their blog.

5.  Contact each of the tagged members and let them know that you were indeed fast enough to catch them and that you did indeed tag them...no matter how much they say you missed them!  No schoolyard rules in this MEME, nope you gotta do it if you are tagged.  Sorry guys!

A little about MeMe!

  1. Prior to working in the mortgage business I was in ministry. I worked full time for an inner city Portland church. My duties included benevolence, out reach, men's ministry and teaching. Several of the high lights. We regularly fed over 200 people Sunday nights under the Burnside Bridge. Every Thanksgiving we handed out frozen turkey's and boxes of food to about 50 families in the neighborhood whose kids came to our church. I met my wife during one of our outreaches. A visiting youth group was an hour late, so we had a chance to talk  for an hour uninterrupted.
  2. I am a Mighty Pelican. That's right. And I'm proud of it. My high school mascot at Klamath Union High School is the Pelicans.
  3. I'm lucky to be alive. When I was 8 months old I stuck the business end of a vacuum cleaner cord in my mouth while the other end was plugged into the wall. I still bear a scare on the left side of my mouth. I had a lot of plastic surgery as a kid and was teased more than a kid should be.
  4. While in college, I worked for the Oregon Department of Forestry fighting forest fires. I had a lot of fun and found myself often wondering why I wasn't working in a nice safe retail store as I was climbing a steep mountain carrying a chain saw or hose line to only God knew what was ahead. But boy, what a rush!!
  5. My family is filled with Jokers. For years we have had a "White Elephant" Christmas on the 26th. I can't tell you how many boy friends and girl friends have been scared off by the antics during those days. My own future mother in law was introduced to my family with gift # 1, a beautifully wrapped pair of underwear specially treated by one of my brothers to look like a royal blowout.  She has since learned to love the warmth and humor of my family.
  6. There is a lot of history in my history. We've traced 1 line back to Royalty in England, another was a sharp shooter in the Revolutionary war and fought with Daniel Boone in the wilderness. A 5x great grandpa founded Pleasant Hill, Oregon and our family burial plot is there. And, another married an Indian princess. My grandfather's story was straight out of "Grapes of Wrath". His family came out of Arkansas to California.
  7. I have had 2 root canals this year with at least one more that we know of needing to be done in the very near future.

While there are many more "secrets", it's time for more MeME!'s.
