Portsmouth New Hampshire
Ever been to Portsmouth New Hampshire? Those of us who live here and love it tend to think of it as "God's Country"!! It is such a special place to call home! We are right here on the Atlantic Ocean, our coastline is a mere 17 miles long, bordering Massachusetts to the south and Maine to the north.
Portsmouth is right on the Piscataqua River, which is the border between New Hampshire and Maine. This river has the 3rd fastest current in the world...practice up your boating skills for our river!!
Portsmouth NH is approximately 45 minutes north of Boston, 45 minutes south of Portland, Maine, and about 45 minutes east of Manchester, New Hampshire. We have great highways and commuter's routes here, a small airport, rail service, and the mountains for skiing, hiking, scenic driving, etc. are as close as 45 minutes away. What a great location, in my opinion!
We have been dubbed the "restaurant capital of the Eastern Seaboard" because we have more restaurants per capita than other towns/cities. And our restaurants here are really good. Because we have so many, they all strive to be even better due to the competition. We've got fancy restaurants to plenty of casual ones, from chains to many locally owned great spots for really neat treats.
Our downtown area is just as charming as it can be! We've got grand historical homes open for touring, beautiful parks, little cafes from which to watch the world go by while enjoying a cup of coffee and awesome baked treats, and we have some really unique shops and boutiques. And we have local theaters for plays & musicals, and we have museums, too. What a great walking town Portsmouth New Hampshire is! People come from far and near to visit this special place we call home.
We have loads of great golfing all around us, the beaches are right here......what more could anyone really want--dining, shopping, beaches, golfing, year-round activities, beautiful homes, great friendly people....come see us!
