I love volunteering and giving time to charitable organizations.  There is nothing like the feeling you get knowing you have made a difference in someones life.  In my busy world I cannot always find time and in this market the donation dollars are becoming more sparse than ever.  However, Blue Mesa made it easy.  Everyone has to eat, eh?

The Blue Mesa Grill is a well known restaurant in the D/FW Metroplex.  They have excellent food and atmosphere.  Another thing they have is a desire to help the community.  For every taco sold they donate one dollar to charity.  The money goes to shelters for children and even Operation Kindness, a no-kill shelter for animals.  You have to love a restaurant who's motto is, "Food is art.  Tequila is life."

This little guy was adopted from Operation Kindness in 1997.

I will be making my donation having lunch there later today!

Have fun @ the lunch, we were looking into getting my dad an adopted dog. He had an australian shepherd he had to put down a couple of months ago and found one in the paper but she was already gone.  I am going to keep searching for one for him, he just loves dogs.  KM

KM, there are many good ones out there.  Operation Kindness would be a long drive but I bet www.petfinder.com has the perfect fit for your Dad!

Mel...

Wow, that's a pretty hefty contribution to two very worthwhile charities. Good for them!

As you know I am also big on giving back here in Austin Texas and I also love the food at Blue Mesa (I have a couple of their recipes), I cannot think of a tastier way to donate!

Its awesome when a business recognizes the needs in a community that supports them and gives back.  What a great thing!

Mel~I'd eat tacos even if there was no charity benefit. In my book, this is a win-win for everyone. You get great food and local charities get much needed money without having to actively solicit it. Enjoy and have a taco for me :-0

Mel, the gauntlet can be carried in many ways, I like the thought simple and easy to see the results sell a taco donate a dollar.  5:30 here and tequila is sounding good. thanks for both good ideas.

Melody - I wish more restaurants would have the desire to donate to charities. As you stated the donation dollars are more sparse than ever before.  Thanks for the tip, maybe, we can do this in my area.

I love WIN-WIN ideas for raising money! I just wrote about one.  It is cool when you can make the donation AND get something you need at the same time!  It just makes it easier for people to give!

Mel, I think that's a wonderful thing that Blue Mesa does.  If they had restaurants here that supported a cause I would certainly eat there more often..........and I'm sorry to say that of all the many restaurants I know, I can't think of a one.  What a shame.

I LOVE TACOS YUMMY-YUMMY-YUMMY

Mel-That is really great that they do that. I use to volunteer alot more than I do now. I had to slow down-not enough hours in the day. I still do some, but not like I did at one time. It is a really good feeling to help others. Enjoy your tacos.

Melody - I am not a taco fan, but I have two adopted "rescue" dogs. We have had Peppi for approx 7 yrs and Lacey going on 4 years. I like the motto and love that they make donations.  - Judy
