Good luck to the new President. He will need it!

Well, today history is being made here in the good ole United States of America today. I would like to congratulate President Barack Obama and wish him the best of luck.

As many of you know, I did not vote for President Obama and don't agree with his views on almost anything.  Those clamoring for change are going to get what they want, but at what expense.

In America today we have just fewer than 140 million people on the tax rolls. A full 45 million of those on the tax rolls pay ZERO in taxes. So you have 95 Million or so folks carrying the water for almost 306 million in total population.

Critics will say that the non-payers earn too little and need a better paying job. Well, over 40% of the 45 million are students or part time. The rest no doubt fall into that category. As someone who has done hiring for years, I would suggest a large part of those; have problems that would keep them from making more money even if they could.

In the 2008 election we had a record 122.3 million people vote. Of those President Obama got 64.3 million and Senator McCain got 58 million. The best turnout ever, by anyone's estimation.

Now for something you didn't know!  The vast portion of President Obama's voters don't pay taxes. That's right; they pay nothing, but decide who will be president.

The vast MAJORITY of Senator McCain's voters pay taxes. Oops, is this taxation without representation? I can guarantee that anybody who voted for President Obama will say no, it's just our process at work. My response to them is simple. Take the tax base that is represented by all the registered Democrats and try to pay the bills! I doubt you could get to March.

What a great approach. The folks that elected you can fund you! Something else that nobody realizes is that the tax base is shrinking not expanding. Years and Years of concessions to the lower income brackets so the producers can get some tax relief have shrunk the base. Now Pelosi and the gang in Washington want to roll back the relief on the upper brackets and leave the lower brackets where they are.  Creating more shrinkage of the tax base folks.  Now that the base needs to grow they are trapped!

You see all the folks that pay no taxes are their voting base and won't or can't stand for a tax increase. So you bought the votes to get elected but those voters have no money to fund you. So you go to the producers who get frustrated and stop producing. Now What? Option two is to grow industry. Good luck with that. The red tape and bureaucracy that goes along with anything Government does will make any businessman or woman run for the hills.

Government is good at one thing and one thing only and that's making the simplest of things completely undoable. Washington couldn't put together a firing squad without 2 years of focus groups and hearings at the cost of millions, when 3 dollars worth of ammo was all that was needed.

Remember the saying "when you're up to your ass in alligators, it's hard to remember your primary objective was to drain the swamp!" Well, that's enough said.

Good luck President Obama.

Very clearly he wanted the position, he fought for the position and he was creative in obtaining support so as to get the position.

Now he has the position...so I'd like to see him put bullcrap rhetoric aside and get to work.  This is a crisis requiring immediate focus and attention.

I hope people at least give him a chance.  It seems like everyone is criticizing him before we even know what will happen.  I have seen so many negative articles and he is not even President yet!  This is a great country because we can disagree, but at least give the guy a chance before putting him down.

Democracy in action.

Do I detect a hint of cynicism?

Maybe a little, but as I wrote in previous blogs I do wish him the best. He has some of the same traits as Reagen and I like to here him speak. I will be looking for the substance though, like everyone else. I generally make good money with a liberal in the White House. Truthfully, Frank and Pelosi scare me. I think Obama has the best interest of America in his heart.

Thanks, Terry

Terry Miller ("Now What?" Training, Coaching and Motivation)- Terry all I can say is that just like every President, give them a chance. Then after after he screws up,Well! If he does that which I serious doubt will happen, people can say whatever they want. But this is not the time to bash him. With a slumping housing market, bad economy, trillions of dollars lost in the stock market and two wars,President Barack Obama needs our support and prayers. Thanks for your comments on my post. Have a great day. Great post.

Whether you agree with his politics or not, he is now our president.  When I say our I mean he is the President of the United States-not just the Dems or Repubs. He has a huge job ahead of him, our county is in a bad way at the moment-recession, 2 wars, and our government disliked in much of the world. You could not pay me enough money to step in his shoes. One thing That President Obama has already brought to many is hope. Congratulations to President Barack Obama.
