Sometimes I have clients ask me, "Does it snow in Pinehurst?"  Well, here's your answer, yes once every few years we get a snow. This is what I woke up to this morning.  Isn't it beautiful? This is the average Pinehurst, NC snow fall, about 3-4 inches or so. By tomorrow it will be gone. So kids dust off your sleds and use them while you can.

Snow in Whispering Pines, NC - Linda BreedingI'll never forget that my daughter was five years old when she saw her first snowfall.  It was larger than this one, we spent a couple of days sledding down a grassy hill and she had a blast, that is until she slid right into a creek and totally disappeared from sight! She was OK but she scared me to death.

Yes, it is true that here in North Carolina life stops when it snows. Everybody heads to grocery store for supplies and hunkers down until the snow is off the roads. We usually have no school, little work and just enjoy hot chocolate sitting beside the fireplace! There really is a reason we behave this way, snowfalls are so rare, there just aren't many snow plows and the plows only go on major highways. So basically, the roads can get pretty bad on the side streets and in the neighborhoods. Hey, we also just need an excuse to take a day off!

Linda,

I love your blog about your "Snow Day" in Pinehurst, NC.  As Caron's comment says we northerner have lots of the white stuff.  Enjoy hot chocolate by the fire and remember next time you need a snow day, we will send some via the southern express.

I have read several blogs written by Realtors who show properties in every type of weather including -30.  Brrr!

Stay warm.

We live in Va Beach and we stopped life for a possibility of snow.  All the schools were closed and yet still no snow today....

Gary - Really? You stop life for a freeze? That's amazing. I was in the grocery store yesterday (you know I HAVE to keep up tradition) and all of us in there were total entertainment for a newcomer from our northern states. Schools were closed before the first flake fell. I love the way we are. :)

Diane - Wow, I can't imagine living with snow all the time. I like our dustings - more than this it's just too cold.

Sharon - It's nice once in awhile.  In NC we amaze our friends in the northern states.  I guess we don't know how to act either. Hope we never buy snow plows. LOL

Terri - I know we got more than you in Delaware, none in DC today. I did enjoy it. I just stayed home and relaxed. Relaxing is a rare thing for a real estate broker.

Mary - It wouldn't be as fun if we had it all the time. If we miss a year of snow I will get you to send some. I have shown houses in an ice/snow storm once, only because my clients were in a rather "emergency" situation to get a house.  Usually I just "sit tight" and let the roads clear.

Naoma - Same here, I heard some will come your way. There has been cases where our schools have closed in anticipation.

Linda, I think the snow is beautiful.  Personally, I would not live in it for fear that I would never leave my house but its great to visit.

John - NC is perfect for snow. Just a little that doesn't stick around long. I'm like you, if it lasted too long I would never leave the house.

Sandy - It's that cold in FL! This cold snap must be hitting all of us southerners. Angels in the snow, Yeah maybe I will.

Dan - I chuckle right along with you and at the same time I have to get in the store with everybody else. That's half the fun.
