That all active duty Serviceman, Reservist ,and the members of the National Guard; while on Active duty they can qualify for a reduction on interest rate in their Mortgage while they are on Active Duty; even in their credit cards and car loans. As far as the mortgage; if the mortgage is more than 6%, they can get a refund from the Mortgage company for the difference while in the service. This kind of protection begins the date of entering active duty and generally terminates within 30 to 90 days after the date of discharge from active duty....This is called Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) I was reading the story of a serviceman who took a mortgage before he went on Active Military and he didn't know of SCRA so, when he came back and was discharged he send his discharge form to the mortgage company and he got his refund in the mail. This Law only covers debt incurred prior to military service. If you know of any body whose gone into the service after December 2003, this is something that we can share with them, the request for the reduction has to be in writing by the Servicemember and a copy of his/her orders has to be included. This can be a nice after Christmas present that our fellow servicemembers can get!!!! Make It a Great Day!
