I took this photo of the New London Ledge Lighthouse from the deck of the Cross Island Ferry this summer while traveling to Long Island. New London Ledge was built in 1909, one of the last lighthouses to be built in New England. It is located near the entrance of New London Harbor at the far end of Long Island Sound.

Shortly after shooting this photo, I posted it on my Eastern Connecticut Real Estate Blog and mentioned, Ernie, the resident ghost  who supposedly haunts the place. I didn't notice anything spooky, but a few days later I received the "touched up" photo shown below from my friend Les Sulgrove in Des Moines, IA.  I'm not sure I'd classify it as spooky or scary but it sure is interesting.

That's funny.  Did he touch up the photo or did he get out and paint the building??

Very funny Lenn.  Maybe Ernie had something to do with it.

HMMMMMM, it sorta looks like ghosts like to have their home sparkling for their guests too.

Ok, Maybe I am looking at this tooooo deeply.  What catches my eye is that the red in the light house is now vivid.  But you can do that and change the back ground to more of a grey tone through Photoshop.   I'm probably missing the point here.

Valerie - Never look at anything I write too deeply.  I'm not very deep.

Don - I guess ghosts are people too.

Linda - I love looking at lighthouses, adn they always remind me of my time in New England. This one is particularly interesting, including the ghost story. Another postcard look.

I grew up in Wading River, right across the Sound on LI.  When I was a kid we would take the New London Ferry to visit relatives in RI where my mom was from.  This brings back memories!

Hi Linda, Your friend did a nice job on this photo. The monochromatic tones of the rest of the photo really make the red 'pop'!
