Inauguration Memories January 20th, 2009

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Missy Caulk TEAM

I attended the Inauguration of President Obama yesterday. No, I wasn't there in the flesh, but I was there with my camera. The Peaceful Transfer of Power is the amazement of out Republican form of government.

I took photos, I cried, I prayed.

Here are some shots I took. I love the one of President Obama with the flag interposed behind him. I did not alter it, it is just the way the photo came out. It is my favorite one.

I like millions of other Americans am hopeful for the future and will pray for wisdom for out leaders and those who have authority over us. Today is a historical day in our history. Who would have known that barely 41 years ago we were only hopeful of the dream Martin Luther King had for our nation. We still have a long way to go, but we are on our way.

That is my son Matthew singing.

WOW!  You son has great talent! (and I actually have some idea of what I am talking about as both of my offsprung are into music in a fairly big way.)

I grew up in Grosse Pointe during the Detroit Riot and the assassinaton of Martin Luther King.  "Black Day in July" by Lightfoot has real meaning for me.  I watched in amazement as history was made on Tuesday.  Long time coming.

If you're so inclined, you may wish to check out my post from Tuesday. I'd love to hear your thoughts.  Cheers!

Missy- I too enjoyed every minute of it...I cried..I smiled..cried some more..and prayed! :)  It seems I couldn't get enough of the good feelings at all!  It was amazing...and I think President Bush was glad to be on Texas soil!  I enjoyed watching his reception as well.  I have to admit..I had nothing but good feelings..and felt so honored to be able to experience this in my life time...really!

Your son's voice and lyrics are just beautiful and yes...I cried again...now I wish I would have thought of this!  Great idea and you are soooooooooo brilliant my friend!

Today, when I was at my Rotary Club meeting, the prayer was said, thank your for a peaceful change of power.  Though our country is flooded with many other issues, we still had a peaceful change of power.

The words he sings are amazing; and he has such a beautiful voice. His last wish, that you would always love him...granted I am sure. I heard the Bush twins wish for the Obama girls...it was also very touching. Here is to better times and the hope that always precedes them.

Missy, that was truly beautiful! Love Michael's song! He's fantastic. I was mesmerized by the whole event. The first one I have ever watched from start to finish and I couldn't get enough.

MIssy, what a moving memory of the inauguration. I loved the photo of Obama and his wife the most - it was very ethereal. Your daughter is amazingly beautiful and your son could be a professional singer. Has he recorded any albums? Has he tried out for American Idol???

Missy, great photos and an incredible song with good meaning! I too was glued to the TV that remarkable day with phones turned off. There is a lot of work to do and it will take time but I think with all of us pulling together, we will get out of this mess.  I am very hopeful!

Missy, I have never in my whole entire life felt so caught up in history or so proud to be an American.  And talk about peaceful transition, there was not one single arrest during the inaguration!  Not for rowdieness, pickpocketing or anything!  Not one in that huge sea of people!

I was looking for something on my computer and came across this blog I wrote in 2009, about the peaceful transfer of power. Too bad the other sides can't accept the election results 9 months later. See even though I never voted for him, I honored him as President and prayed for him. Gee how things change in 8 years.
