Farewell President Bush- Thank you for your service top our country and especially keeping us safe for the last 7 years.
President Bush was the President of the United States of America for 8 years and we prayed for him those 8 years just as we prayed for President Clinton before him, Bush Sr before him and Ronald Reagan before him. We will now pray for our new President Obama. May God bless him to lead our great free country and keep us safe.
"Sometimes I did things that were not popular but I always did what I believed was right." President Bush said in his farewell speech in Midland Texas tonight. He also said, "I never took a poll to find out what I should think."
He said that popularity is very fast lived but character and conscience remain forever. Photo credit- White House/Eric Draper.
"I left with the same values I took to Washington 8 year ago- When I get home tonight and look in the mirror I won't regret what I see."
He is the 1st former president to share his post presidency with both of his parents. I did not know that. What a blessing that is.
One of the things he is going to do is to write a book to help us all understand what was really going on during his presidency and why he made the decisions he made.
President Bush left 2 legacies that he will be remembered for AFTER the media no longer throws stones at him.
1. He kept us safe. You may not agree with how, but even leading Democrats have said that he has kept us safe for the last 7 years. He stopped so many planned attacks on US soil that were intercepted that the media never told us about. I know; my father served in the Naval intelligence in the late 50's and 60's and I know SO many things that the citizens never hear about. If we knew it all we would be so stressed out and scared. You have NO idea of the war that we are really in.
2. Pres Bush has done more for Africa; Aids, health and education than any other HUMAN BEING that ever lived. This even Reverend Sharpton had to admit. This will be one of Bush's great humanitarian legacies even though the media has never said one word about it. During his presidency millions of African lives were spared from Malaria and AIDS. Millions of children were able to go to school and through his work there many more children will not now be sold as slaves.
3. 50 million people were liberated from the clutches of brutal tyranny. Women who were allowed to be killed at their husband's whims, women who were not allowed to vote or go to school, women who hid in caves to learn how to read, women who were raped and tortured for the sick pleasure of it; now can cast their vote, now can walk safer and now can get educated. This speaks volumes of how I feel for the good that democracy has empowered the lives of women and children with.
4. He was a man of principle and values. He prayed every day and did not care whether he was popular or not. He did what he believed was right. Standing true to your principles is what matters. His vision was to spread democracy so that Christianity would be available to every man, woman and child should one choose to know without being put in jail, killed or tortured.
"I never took a poll to find out what I should think." President Bush said a few hours ago.
I read a post earlier today mocking the positives of President Bush and one of her positives was that she was glad that her 2 sons will grow up not knowing who George W Bush was. But her post inspired me to write this post and all I have to say is that I hope her sons one day find my post here on the internet and read about one of our Presidents, George W Bush. Each President of our country brought something to the office of the Presidency. Each President even the ones we don't like deserve the respect of recognizing their position and what it means to the Free world.
The majority of the students entering college in the year 1983; did not know Pres Ronald Reagan had been shot nor that he stopped the cold war.In fact, they did not even know what the cold war was. That is why I am so glad I homeschooled all my kids. They know the truth, not the propaganda that the history books in public school have turned into. I do believe that history in the end will bring about the truth.
So President Bush, while I may not have agreed with you on all of your policies; I commend your courage, your resilience and most of all your integrity. Thank you for your service and may God bless you.
