Farewell President Bush- Thank you for your service top our country and especially keeping us safe for the last 7 years.  president George W Bush

President Bush was the President of the United States of America for 8 years and we prayed for him those 8 years just as we prayed for President Clinton before him, Bush Sr before him and Ronald Reagan before him. We will now pray for our new President Obama. May God bless him to lead our great free country and keep us safe.

"Sometimes I did things that were not popular but I always did what I believed was right."  President Bush said in his farewell speech in Midland Texas tonight. He also said, "I never took a poll to find out what I should think."

He said that popularity is very fast lived but character and conscience       remain forever. Photo credit- White House/Eric Draper.

"I left with the same values I took to Washington 8 year ago- When I get home tonight and look in the mirror I won't regret what I see."

He is the 1st former president to share his post presidency with both of his parents. I did not know that. What a blessing that is.

One of the things he is going to do is to write a book to help us all understand what was really going on during his presidency and why he made the decisions he made.

President Bush left 2 legacies that he will be remembered for AFTER the media no longer throws stones at him.

1. He kept us safe. You may not agree with how, but even leading Democrats have said that he has kept us safe for the last 7 years. He stopped so many planned attacks on US soil that were intercepted that the media never told us about. I know; my father served in the Naval intelligence in the late 50's and 60's and I know SO many things that the citizens never hear about. If we knew it all we would be so stressed out and scared. You have NO idea of the war that we are really in.

2. Pres Bush has done more for Africa; Aids, health and education than any other HUMAN BEING that ever lived. This even Reverend Sharpton had to admit. This will be one of Bush's great humanitarian legacies even though the media has never said one word about it. During his presidency millions of African lives were spared from Malaria and AIDS. Millions of children were able to go to school and through his work there many more children will not now be sold as slaves.

3. 50 million people were liberated from the clutches of brutal tyranny. Women who were allowed to be killed at their husband's whims, women who were not allowed to vote or go to school, women who hid in caves to learn how to read, women who were raped and tortured for the sick pleasure of it; now can cast their vote, now can walk safer and now can get educated. This speaks volumes of how I feel for the good that democracy has empowered the lives of women and children with.

4. He was a man of principle and values. He prayed every day and did not care whether he was popular or not. He did what he believed was right. Standing true to your principles is what matters. His vision was to spread democracy so that Christianity would be available to every man, woman and child should one choose to know without being put in jail, killed or tortured.

"I never took a poll to find out what I should think." President Bush said a few hours ago.

I read a post earlier today mocking the positives of President Bush and one of her positives was that she was glad that her 2 sons will grow up not knowing who George W Bush was. But her post inspired me to write this post and all I have to say is that I hope her sons one day find my post here on the internet and read about one of our Presidents, George W Bush. Each President of our country brought something to the office of the Presidency. Each President even the ones we don't like deserve the respect of recognizing their position and what it means to the Free world.

The majority of the students entering college in the year 1983; did not know Pres Ronald Reagan had been shot nor that he stopped the cold war.In fact, they did not even know what the cold war was. That is why I am so glad I homeschooled all my kids. They know the truth, not the propaganda that the history books in public school have turned into. I do believe that history in the end will bring about the truth.

So President Bush, while I may not have agreed with you on all of your policies; I commend your courage, your resilience and most of all your integrity. Thank you for your service and may God bless you.

Katerina, Thanks for a great post. He kept us safe, and maybe while I didn't agree with some things, I have the greatest respect for President Bush. We must give our support to our leaders they have an awful tough job.

Katrina - No matter how good or bad of a job somebody has done, the job of The President of the United States has to be one of the most thankless jobs. Your praise for George W. Bush is very touching.

Excellent post. Folks were so busy bashing him, they lost track of the good things that were accomplished. I wonder what will be thought of him in 20 years.

Lauren- Thank you for that comment. It touches my heart what he has done for Africans. I am equally shocked that there are never any stories on the media about that, not on the news or in the papers. It was like no one dare say something good or nice about Pres Bush. Just to set it all up for the bashing so that the congress' spending could be rationalized. Thank you for adopting from Ethiopia. My little 6 year old's best friend is from Nigeria. Their parents are clients of ours and have been for almost 2 years now. They have told me stories no one would ever want to hear. Pres. Bush tried to stop a lot of that.

Rob and Camille- We still stand by this man in honor of his service and I am forever grateful for his endearing kindness towards those in the military who serve our country. He was a good commander in chief to those men and women. Thank you for commenting. I of course as a conservative and capatilist did believe he should have just vetoed all the bailouts and socialization of our country. The differences of opinion did not change my respect for him as a leader and President.

Connie- People are very ignorant in how a Republic works. The study of US government is like 1 semester in high school and one in college. Most of the kids sleep through this class. It amazes me how much my kids know (grown kids) about our govt and how it operates. Presidents are not dictators. That is what I find myself saying so much. We have safeguards in place so that it all can not be one man's fault or glory. Thank you for commenting.

Joshua- Thank you for the compliment and I am glad that I moved you to comment. I am very passionate about my beliefs and principles. I feel that if everyone is bashing and making fun of him all over the world right now, I just could not stand by without paying my respects. Tears come to my eyes as I think of the nastiness and horrible things people say about others when they know nothing of what they are talking about. I have always been the one to come to the defense of the underdog especially when they stand for the right principles.

Jacquline- I do not wish that job on anyone. It does take a toll. Look at every president who start with just a touch of gray if any only to leave office aged and totally gray. That is a sign of the stress that goes with that job. Thank you for commenting. I did not agree all the time but I never lost respect. I knew that he was praying every morning and night.

Carol- Thank you and I agree. Thankless is sad since so many people around the world are not free to vote or choose their leaders. We choose them and then spit on them. Pretty sad.

I believe that no matter who is the President, that the person who holds the office is entitled to the respect of all Americans. I get so tired of hearing people put down President Bush. I think it is fine to disagree, but that it should be done with respect. And so......we go forward with President Obama....who also deserves the respect and support of each of us!

Suzanne- I totally agree, great comment. It is about respect although that is word that many entitlement era people have no clue about. We need to teach more US government in classrooms so that people grow up with the admiration and respect of our way of life and realize how truly blessed we are above all other countries!

Katerina,

Thank you so much for this post. I hope history is truthful about this man, more than the present haters are.  He has been a leader and has made hard choices. God bless him for making decisions because he thought it was the right thing to do.

Chris and Karen- I certainly hope so also. I will never fault a man or woman who stands on their principles and lives with good values even if I do not agree, I still respect. Pres Bush's story of who he is goes much deeper than some policy. It takes courage to look past what is popular to what is right. Thank you for your comment and reading my heartfelt post.
